Exclusive: Donald Trump on Small Town Campaigning in Iowa: 'I'm willing to do that.'

In an exclusive interview with The Brody File, Donald Trump says that if he gets into the presidential race, he’s, “willing" to go to Iowa and conduct small town politicking in coffee shops and homes. Though he does say, “I don't think you necessarily have to go into everybody's home.”

I conducted this interview with Donald Trump in New York City at Trump Tower.

David Brody: If you get in. Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina: Do you see this kind of as a traditional path or would you mix things up and do things very different?

Donald Trump: I see Iowa and I see New Hampshire and I see South Carolina and I see if you call it a traditional path, which is probably not a bad term, absolutely.

I think the people of Iowa are great. They're had working people. They really go out there, and they get it. I hear I'd do great in Iowa, I'm hearing I do really well in the polls in Iowa, but I haven't seen that yet. But when I speak to a Ralph Reed and others, they really give me good signs of encouragement.

I'm a hard worker. I happen to be a very smart guy, which in all fairness this country really needs at this point because we just can’t continue to go down the path that we've been going down. The path has been ruinous for this country, so I think I'd do well in Iowa.

I think I'd do well in New Hampshire. I mean, some polls have actually come out in New Hampshire that have me doing unbelievably well. Iowa and New Hampshire, they're hard working people. They're great people and they get it so I think I'd do well there.

Brody: In Iowa, they want to see people going to coffee shops and have a conversation.

Trump: And I'll do that. I'm willing to do that. I'm not exactly sure it's the most important thing. They say you have to go into homes and this and that and you know what, I'm willing to do that if I have to but I really think the people of Iowa, they're very smart people, they get it.

I don't think you necessarily have to go into everybody's home. You know certain other candidates can do that because they don't have a job, so they can walk into everybody's house. I’m running this huge company. I'd like to run this country great. This country has such potential that's just unused, it's untapped. It's untapped potential.

So, I think I'll do well in Iowa and I think I'll do well in New Hampshire, and I think I'll do well in South Carolina, too. I think the governor of South Carolina is very popular there is fantastic, and I think I'll do well in South Carolina.
