Brody File Exclusive: Donald Trump On Ted Cruz: "You don’t hold up the Bible and lie.”

In an exclusive interview with The Brody File, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has a message for Ted Cruz: the Bible and lying aren’t a good mix. “He holds up the Bible nice and high but he lies and I think the evangelicals have figured it out because I’m leading with evangelicals by a lot,’ Trump tells us during our interview in Charleston South Carolina.

Trust me, I know there are plenty of evangelicals that believe Trump is being just a tad hypocritical here considering times that they believe he has not been completely honest either. Here’s the problem with that: Trump seems immune from those charges. There is a Teflon quality to him that is striking in nature. Since he’s gotten into this race, it’s never been a fair fight. The politicians he’s running against are held to the standard we are accustomed to. Trump, on the hand, plays in a lane all by himself. The more over the top and bombastic he is, the better it plays to his narrative as a renegade outsider. Plus, he’s already known as the flamboyant, off-color brash billionaire. It seems voters just chalk it all up to, “Donald being Donald.” The stakes are high and we were always told that when things get serious, voters will, “come to their senses.” Well, the polls continue to be in Trump’s favor no matter what he does.  It’s unreal how this is playing out.

David Brody:  “Well, look it’s South Carolina. It’s you, Ted Cruz. It’s gotten nasty between the both of you. Tell me about the state of the race. How do you see it?’

Donald Trump: “Well, I think we’re doing really well. Ted’s been caught in a lot of lies. He really lied with Dr. Ben Carson in Iowa. That’s where I sort of got wise to him and then he made the voter violation form which is a fraud as far as most people are concerned and he lies a lot…”

Donald Trump: “He does hold up the Bible. He holds up the Bible nice and high but he lies and I think the evangelicals have figured it out because I’m leading with evangelicals by a lot.”

David Brody: “So are you questioning his Christian faith?”

Donald Trump: “No, not at all. I’m just saying you don’t hold up the Bible and lie.”
