GORDON ROBERTSON: Welcome to The 700 Club. Big brother is watching you in DC, especially if you’re in a car.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: A system of traffic cameras in that city scans license plates. Now, that can help catch criminals but some experts are worried that the system could lead to an invasion of privacy. John Jessup has the story.
CAMERAS
JOHN JESSUP (Washington, DC): If you've ever visited the nation's capital, chances are you've had your picture taken, not necessarily by someone you know but under the watchful eye of what some consider "Big Brother." Scores of government surveillance cameras continuously scan images of everything from public spaces like this to protest marches to running red lights. But there is a new kind of technology law enforcement are utilizing, and it’s a growing trend. These license plate readers allow police to find stolen vehicles, a wanted or missing person, or someone on the terrorist watch list. Each time a vehicle passes the camera, an image is collected and matched against the FBI's criminal database. If there's a match, police can spring into action, something they've always been able to do but not nearly as quickly or productively.
Capt. Kevin Reardon (Virginia Arlington County Police Department): I'm absolutely confident saying every day a felon is taken off the street as a result of this program.
JOHN JESSUP: For privacy advocates, the concern is what's done with the information after it's been collected.
Julian Sanchez: It's absolutely natural and justifiable to wonder about how police will, without perhaps public observation, use this technology.
JOHN JESSUP: Julian Sanchez, a privacy and technology expert believes it eventually could be used to reveal much more than the make, model, and license of someone’s car.
Julian Sanchez (CATO Institute): What people, I think, ought to be concerned about is the idea that everyone's movements, a map of where everyone has been, could be stored for three years for no particular reason at all, to later then be combed through for purposes unknown.
Capt. Kevin Reardon (Arlington County Police): There are those people who do have privacy concerns, and we are cognizant of that.
JOHN JESSUP: Each of the 29 agencies in the DC area that uses the devices has a written policy on how long they store the information. Some erase the data after a matter of days, others keep it for a year or more. But Capt. Reardon says law-abiding citizens have nothing to worry about.
Capt. Kevin Reardon (Arlington County Police): Police officers have access to a great deal of confidential information about citizens. We safeguard that and we safeguard this information also.
Andrew Taslitz Professor American University): My heart is with the need to protect communities.
JOHN JESSUP: Andrew Taslitz is a law prosecutor at American University. As a former prosecutor, he doesn't see a problem with using the technology. But he believes law enforcement could do a better job of calming privacy concerns by being more open about their approach between balancing safety and security against civil liberties.
Andrew Taslitz (American University): They are servants of the people, and the more that the people have a say in what they do, the more legitimate their activities are going to be.
JOHN JESSUP: But Sanchez worries that the information could have unintended consequences.
Julian Sanchez: Most people don't expect that all of their actions in public places will be chained together and linked by any one person in ways that can reveal private facts that aren't actually exposed when you look at each public moment in isolation.
JOHN JESSUP: The devices are used in big and small cities across the country. The Washington region recently received more a $1.3 million grant from the Department of Homeland Security. A good part of that money will go toward buying more license plate readers later this year. John Jessup, CBN News, Washington.
GORDON ROBERTSON: Well, welcome to the new world of technology and how that enables surveillance and then enables the records to be kept pretty much indefinitely. We’ve already seen it with facial recognition software, where literally everyone through a particular checkpoint can be checked against a database: “who are you?” We’re seeing it with license plate technology where those snapshots are taken. That then can be collated in a larger database to track the movements of any particular car. On top of that, you have cell phone technology all of which has a GPS; so if your cell phone is on, it’s recording where you’ve been and your movements. There are GPS systems in cars now which record those movements, so we are into a whole new world where you can literally have every data point about a person put into a database, and the government can get it. The other part of it is we are giving it away on the internet, and not to the government, but to private corporations, where every Google search is retained, every web transaction is retained, everything you do with your credit card is retained, and then those are then used to create profiles of your purchasing. The good part of that is you get marketed goods that you may actually want to buy. The bad part of it is, they know everything about you. Lee Webb has the rest of our top stories from the CBN Newsroom. Lee.
OBAMA TRIMMING GOVERNMENT
LEE WEBB: Gordon, President Obama is asking Congress for greater power to shrink the federal government. His first idea, to merge six major trade and commerce agencies. One senior administration official says their programs can be confusing to business owners. Congress would have to give the president the authority to make those changes and then approve the details of the plan. The president promised to come up with a smart reorganization of the government in his last state of the union speech nearly a year ago.
DEBT INCREASE
LEE WEBB: President Obama has also asked Congress for another 1.2 trillion dollar increase in the nation’s debt limit. It’s largely a formality, but it carries election year implications. It was the third and final such request the president was allowed under a deal the White House reached with law makers in August to prevent a government default. Congress has 15 days now to reject the president’s request. Majority House Republicans immediately announced they would hold a vote next week on a resolution not to allow it.
GALLUP POLL
LEE WEBB: More Americans call themselves “conservative” than any other ideological label. A new Gallop poll finds that 40 percent describes their views as conservative, 35 percent as moderate, and 21 percent liberal. Gallop notes that this is the third straight year conservatives have outnumbered moderates.
EVANGELICAL MEETING
LEE WEBB: It’s still early in the primary process, but Evangelicals have not rallied behind one candidate just yet. Some Evangelical leaders are meeting this weekend, though, in Texas, to compare notes. Their support appears to be split among Rick Santorum, Rick Perry, and Newt Gingrich. Organizers claim Saturday’s meeting is not a strategy session to defeat Mitt Romney, but Tony Perkins of The Family Research Council told NPR that he expects they will emerge from this meeting with a general consensus about which candidate they can rally behind.
NJ CIVIL UNION CASE
LEE WEBB: A New Jersey judge says that a Methodist church violated state law when it refused to allow a same-sex ceremony on it’s property. Judge Solomon Metzger ruled the decision violated New Jersey’s discrimination laws. Metzger say’s the pavilion area where the couple wanted to hold the ceremony is a pubic space and advertised as a wedding venue with any religious preconditions. Now this is a picture of that pavilion. The church argued it’s an extension of it’s wedding ministry. The attorney representing the church they may appeal the decision. He says the government should not be able to force a private Christian organization to use it’s property in a way that would violate it’s own religious beliefs.
WINTER SNOWSTORM
LEE WEBB: Well, winter appears to be making up for lost time. We had a mild start to January, but severe winter weather is pummeling a huge part of this country today, after dumping more than 20 feet of snow on Alaska. Mark Martin has the story.
MARK MARTIN: For weeks, arctic air has been kept far north by the jet stream. But as folks in the Midwest will tell you, it’s finally came down south. The first major winter storm roared in with a vengeance. Across the Midwest, cold air and blowing, drifting snow are making conditions miserable and roads a slick, icy mess. The weather has been blamed for at least two deaths in Iowa. In Greenfield, Wisconsin, snow led to traffic accidents and brought the evening commute to a standstill. Chicago is under a winter storm warning. The Windy City is bracing for a wind chill near zero and up to six inches of new snow.
Chicago Resident: We'll shovel it out, lay down the salt and hope it goes away by Monday.
MARK MARTIN: The wintry weather grounded hundreds of flights in Chicago. In a city that's used to brutal winter weather, this recent storm may have been a wake-up call, considering it's been unseasonably warm in the past few months. So far this winter, Chicago has seen less than two inches of snow, when normally by mid-January more than a foot has blanketed the ground.
Chicago Resident: The snow? Nah, it’s pretty. It hasn't been on the ground long enough to really have an effect on me yet.
MARK MARTIN: The winter storm is moving from the Midwest through the Great Lakes with it’s eyes set on New England. Residents there could see up to a foot of snow starting today.
Meanwhile people in Alaska are wondering if old man winter has been on steroids. The state is used to tough winters, but no one was prepared for the 20 feet of snow that has fallen, holding many residents captive in their own homes. The community of Cordova has been buried under mounds of snow since November.
Cordova Resident: Cordova needs all the help they can get right now.
MARK MARTIN: The town ordered an emergency shipment of heavy duty snow scoops, And the Alaska National Guard has been called in to help try and dig the town out before the next storm hits.
National Guardsman: This is an opportunity for us just to show the true mission of the National Guard.
MARK MARTIN: The rest of the US, not dealing with winter storms, will remain quiet and mild as high pressure hovers over the west coast, the Rocky Mountains, and the Plains. Residents there will see another dry and sunny day with mild temperatures. Mark Martin, CBN News.
MILD WINTER
LEE WEBB: Yes, as Mark mentioned, up until now for much of the country, this winter season has been incredibly mild. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reports 1700, 1700 record highs have been set so far this winter. Let it be noted, Gordon, that on January 12th, last night, I grilled out. I’ve never done that in January.
GORDON ROBERTSON: Well, good for you, Lee. I know for me, Terry, my heating bill has been grateful for the warm spell we’ve been going through.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Oh my goodness. And, you know, we are now having a bit of a cold spell, and today earlier, 42 degrees. So for those of you who are suffering at zero degrees in Chicago. I know we’re not getting a lot of sympathy here.
GORDON ROBERTSON: Chicago is saying, “that’s balmy weather.”
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Yeah, that’s mid July. Well, on a more serious note, coming up, 27 Christian protesters died, 14 of them crushed by military vehicles.

GORDON ROBERTSON: Christians in Egypt are worried about the results of their recent elections. If the new government is dominated by Islamists, many Christians fear they will face more attacks. They want the militants who have committed atrocities against them to be prosecuted especially for the army attack in Maspero Square last October. Gary Lane has a story from Cairo.
FOCUS: EGYPT MASPERO
GARY LANE: It was an event that has discouraged Egyptian Christians perhaps like no other in recent years, the Maspero Massacre. It was Sunday evening last Oct. 9th, Egyptian Christians had gathered in Cairo to protest the destruction of this church near Aswan. Maged Fahim explaines why his father, Magdy, joined those marching from the Shoubra neighborhood to the national television station at Maspero Square.
Maged Fahim: Every time there is an incident, or there is a church burned or attacked, nothing happens about it, no one is charged, no one is arrested. And this was bothering him a lot, because he thought this is not fair. Some people had to pay for what they have done to the churches and to the Christians in Egypt.
GARY LANE: Magdy Fahim was retired from his job at the American University Library. Maged said his father was a man of practical faith who often gathered the family together to read the Bible.
Magdy Fahim: He was teaching us to read it every day and to see what God is telling us and to hear the Voice. God does not want us to praise him by tongue; He wants our heart. God is my light and my salvation. So what do I fear? He write it every single day, I think, for more than 40 years.
GARY LANE: Fearless, Magdy, along with 10,000 other Christians proceeded past hostile Muslim crowds, toward Maspero.
Magdy Fahim: They were attacked by the tanks of the army, and he was hit with the army sticks they have.
GARY LANE: Later, Magdy, the devout Christian librarian, died from a brain hemorrhage caused by repeated blows to his head. In all, 27 Christians were killed as a result of the Maspero incident. Fourteen of them, including Michael Toufic, were crushed by military armored vehicles. Mary and Monira Toufic told CBN News they learned about their brother's death as they watched the Maspero events unfold on national television. Mary tells us, “Every night I cry so hard, because I miss him so much.” Michael Issa's father, Abraham, was also killed. He says his dad felt compelled to attend the Christian demonstration at Maspero even though he wasn't a big supporter of rallies and demonstrations.
Michael Issa (Father killed at Maspero): He said we should rally in front of our Lord and Savior instead of demonstrating in front of people. Do that each day and see what happens.
I lost a spiritual father, a friend who led me through life. The only comfort I would have would be to see God's glory and change come to Egypt.
GARY LANE: But change in attitudes may not come anytime soon. Samuel Tadros of the Hudson Institute says, “The Egyptian Army is not a professional one. It's made up of conscripts who share the general population's prejudice against Christians.” He tells of how one soldier made a shocking pronouncement as troops boarded the bus to return to their barracks.
Samuel Tadros (Hudson Institute): One of the soldiers comes out of a window of the bus and proclaims to the Muslim onlookers that have gathered, he shouts, “I have shot him in the chest!” And the Muslim onlookers all clap and applaud him, and one of them tells him, “By God, you are a man!”
GARY LANE: Three soldiers who drove armored vehicles into the crowd were arrested by the Egyptian Army. They are scheduled to be put on trial next month on charges of involuntary manslaughter. Tadros and other Egyptian Christians say an independent investigation is needed. Meanwhile, Christians like these men gather in prayer at Cairo's Cave Church praying for their families and asking God to bring peace to their nation. The injustice of the Maspero Massacre and ongoing attacks against their churches weigh heavy on the hearts of Egyptian Christians, and many say the future doesn't look bright. They don't think a new government will be able to protect them from the army or persecution from Islamists.
Father Philopateer: We haven't seen any constructive response from the Brotherhood or the Islamists about the burning or destruction of the churches. They didn't care about the bloodshed in the streets. All their focus was about the elections, and that's a betrayal to the Egyptian Revolution.
GARY LANE: Father Philopateer, witnessed the attacks at Maspero. He says most Egyptians doubt the Muslim Brotherhood will honor its campaign pledge to protect minority rights. And he says members of Egypt's Coptic Church have no illusions about what may come.
Father Philopateer (Coptic Activist): Copts are used to martyrdom. We gave plenty during Mubarak's time and now during the military council's rule. We are expecting more martyrs during the rule of the Brotherhood.
GARY LANE: Maged Fahim said his faith has grown stronger since his father's tragic death. He sees God at work despite the tragedy at Maspero.
Maged Fahim: He is keeping something good for us and for Egypt. But we have to pay the price, and we are doing this now.
GARY LANE: Gary Lane, CBN News, Cairo, Egypt.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
GORDON ROBERTSON: An incredible statement! “Copts are used to martyrdom.” When you look at the Coptic community, it you're looking at one of the oldest Christian communities in the world, dating back literally to the dawn of Christianity, to the first century. So, when you see this kind of violence, and it's not some radical group; this was the army doing this to its own citizens, and then rejoicing afterwards of how they were able to strike down the infidel. That's what we're facing now in the Middle East. All of the hope of the Arabs praying that it would bring democracy, it would bring freedom, it would bring liberty, all seems to be evaporating in the aftermath of these elections because the population, just as they did in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, they’re voting for the Islamists. You talk about a dangerous situation, a dangerous situation for the Christian minorities in the Middle East, and also a dangerous situation for Israel. So please be in prayer for them. We need to support our brothers in the faith. Terry.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Well, up next, a thief who aspired to be like the gangsters he watched on TV.
Man: I felt powerful. I felt fearless. “I know it's wrong, and it's a law; but I can break it, and I can get away with it; and nobody's going to catch me.”
TERRY MEEUWSEN: See how those famous last words came back to haunt him, when we come back.

GORDON ROBERTSON: As a young boy, Brandon Duncan had one goal in life: to become a “bad man.” Well, Brandon achieved his goal and spent 15 years in prison paying for it.
BRANDON DUNCAN
DORY NISSON: Brandon Duncan’s earliest memories had nothing to do with a happy childhood.
Brandon Duncan: I was in constant fear at home, fear. That’s what I remember feeling when I would see my step dad abuse my mom. I was paralyzed. “What should I do? How can I help?”
DORY NISSON: Brandon was too young to help his mom, but he dreamed of being a gangster, like the powerful men he saw on TV.
Brandon Duncan: When I saw the gangsters, they had it all, and they never were helpless. And so I guess that was my escape thinking, “You know what? One day I’m going to be a bad man, and this man will never hurt my family again.”
DORY NISSON: When Brandon got older, he jumped right into the life of crime he’d always dreamed about. He stole anything and everything he could.
Brandon Duncan: I felt powerful. I felt fearless. “I know it’s wrong. It’s the law; but I can break it, and I can get away with it; and nobody will catch me.”
DORY NISSON: Eventually, the law caught up with him. He was convicted of armed robbery and sent to prison for 15 years.
Brandon Duncan: The environment was chaos, hate and violence. The gangs were the focus. It was hate all day. You woke up in the morning, and it’s hate and rage and violence.
DORY NISSON: Brandon’s real gangster life was not the Hollywood version he had seen on TV as a child.
Brandon Duncan: When the lights went out at the end of the day, I was scared, terrified, I was feeling, “Well, I made it through one more day. I hope I make it through tomorrow.”
DORY NISSON: Several years into his time, Brandon met a man who was visiting inmates. He‘d spent years in prison himself but had become a Christian.
Brandon Duncan: How did he go from dark to light? How did he escape this vicious cycle that I was in? I actually started talking to this man, and he prayed with me. I prayed the prayer of salvation. I thought I felt a burden lift from me. Here’s the thing. I turn away from talking to this great guy whose got light and love in him, and I go right back to darkness, hate, and violence.
DORY NISSON: So when he learned a new inmate was convicted of abuse, it reminded him of his childhood, and he snapped.
Brandon Duncan: I thought it was my job to give this man what he deserved. The punishment he deserves is violence, and I beat him half to death. I had no remorse for hurting that man.
DORY NISSON: He was moved to another area of the prison, but all the inmates knew about Brandon’s brutal, unprovoked attack, and turned against him.
Brandon Duncan: For months they yelled death threats to me. After about four or five months, I was going to go insane. I couldn’t take it anymore. I had one book in that cell. I used it for a pillow, because they took my mattress every day at 6am until six at night. But I was allowed to keep my Bible. I used it as a pillow. When I got so consumed with despair. and actually thought about killing myself to shut it off, I picked up the Bible and started reading. I had a Bible that had red writing in it, which means Jesus’ words. And I would focus on those. I remember sitting there reading for hours and feeling a peace and a protection was on my life.
DORY NISSON: Then Brandon learned his mother had left her abusive husband and had become a Christian. She prayed for Brandon every day.
Brandon Duncan: My heart was hurting every day, because I missed my mom. I realized how powerful my family’s prayers were for me. I started to deep down feel my goals and aspirations in life were changing. See, I was now I’m dreaming of, “I gotta get out and be a good guy now. I want to love my family.”
DORY NISSON: Brandon realized God was real and wanted Jesus Christ in his life.
Brandon Duncan: I said, “It’s all or nothing.” I’m living for Jesus. I knew that that was it. I was on my knees that day and surrendering like I never was. “Please Jesus have mercy on me, and take this from me.” And I don’t know how long I was on the floor; I don’t know how long I was praying or how loud I was praying. But I know that I was freed. I was given another chance; a different life.
DORY NISSON: Brandon began reading the Bible every day. He also started corresponding with a biker ministry that helped him get anchored in his relationship with Christ. He got out prison two years later and started going to church and his mom supported him every step of the way. Today, Brandon works as a counselor, helping kids make better choices than he did. Brandon is a very different man than he once was.
Brandon Duncan: Today I’m a new person because of Jesus and the blood that was shed. Now I have hope, and I have love in my heart today. I can’t even find the words to express the love and gratitude I have for saving a wretch like me. Jesus died for me, for me!

GORDON MINISTER SALVATION
GORDON ROBERTSON: And He died for you, too. Jesus said it very clearly, ”I came into the world to save sinners.” Now, maybe you haven't gone as far as Brandon where you're out there committing armed robbery, but when you start looking at your life and looking at the standard that the Bible puts out. Jesus declared, “If you even think in anger about your brother, if you even say, ‘You fool,’ you're in danger.” That's what Jesus says. That's a high standard. The Bible says all of us, we've all sinned. We've all fallen short of the glory of God. But there is a great news. There's the best news the world has ever heard. Jesus takes care of all of that. He can forgive any sin, and He says so loud and clear. And he says that the last day, there is no sin that cannot be forgiven. And He also says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by me.” All the other religions of the world, all or about how you can perfect your self. How can you meditate enough. How can you deny yourself enough. How can you obey enough. How can you ask for forgiveness enough, and keep on. There's no assurance that you've actually been forgiven. You have to go through all the rules and rituals, and you have to observe them correctly all the time. Jesus says, “I'll take care of that for you. I'll do that for you. I'll die in your place so that you can be with me for all eternity.” That's good news. He'll do it all, and all you have to do is believe that. The Bible says you will appropriate the salvation is made available, that’s so freely given. You literally say, come, I want that. I want you in my heart. Now, there's other benefits to this when you ask for that. You get peace. You replace fear with love. You replace anger with peace, and that can happen for you. All you have to do is ask for it. Now, if this is for you, this is what you want, all you have to do is pray a very, very simple prayer. “Jesus, if you're there, if this is real, if I can be saved, if I can be forgiven, if I can be set free, and I want that, and I want you in my heart, and I want to be with you for all eternity.” If you want that, just pray it. That's all you have to do. The Bible says “When you seek Me with all of your heart, then you'll find me.” For Brandon, he had to seek within a jail cell where the only companion he had was a Bible. For a long time he used it just as a pillow, and then he finally opened it up and began to read the words of Jesus, and it set him free. You can be set free in the middle of a jail cell. That can happen to you if you just let him. If you want someone to help you pray, if there are things on your heart, where you say, “Can be forgiven of this?”

The pastor who heads the Christian Association of Nigeria tells reporters that Christians there can no longer sit back and allow the killings to continue. GORDON ROBERTSON: In 1991 the Israeli military conducted Operation Solomon, airlifting thousands of Ethiopian Jews from Africa to Israel. For many of these immigrants, starting a new life in Israel was difficult. For Ilana it was tragic.
ILANA
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Ilana was just a child when her family moved to Israel, and that 19 she found herself in an arranged marriage to a man who beat her.
Ilana: My husband would take out his anger on me. One night he almost killed me. It's a miracle I survived, and now he is in jail for eight years.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Ilana was left to raise her three small children alone. Then just a few months ago, her six-year-old daughter died unexpectedly during a routine surgery. Since then Ilana has suffered from crippling depression. Most days she sits in this dark apartment unable to work. Her small welfare check rarely covers a third of the family's expenses. I have a large debt on my mortgage, and they were about to take my apartment. My water and electricity will soon be cut off as well.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Life is especially hard for Ilana’s son, Tomer. At just 13 years old, he has to take care of the whole family. He didn't want to be interviewed, but off camera he told us tries to protect his mother, because he still remembers the night she was taken away in an ambulance.
Ilana: On his birthday he told me something I will never forget. He told me not to buy him a present. He said, “Mom, don't feel bad. I know that we are poor.” As a mother, that is very hard for me.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Recently a team from CBN Israel, gave the family some much-needed help. We made the back payments on Ilana’s mortgage, so she wouldn't lose her home. But it was a small gift that overwhelmed her, a basket full of lotion, soap, and other personal items.
Ilana: These are things I need every day, what I can't get for myself. Thank you so much.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: For Tomer, we bought clothes and new running shoes he needed for school. And for his little brother, some new toys. We also took the family grocery shopping. Then we arranged for Ilana to see a counselor, to help her get well so she can go back to work and support her family.
Ilana: I feel like I'm in the clouds. I think you can see my mood. I can't find a word to describe this beautiful experience. For me and my children, thank you, very, very much.

TERRY MEEUWSEN: Well, logging has always been a dangerous business, but when the brakes failed on his 14-ton skidder, lumberjack Dwight Freemont panicked, and it's a miracle he lived to tell his story.
DWIGHT FREMONT
TIM BRANSON: Lumberjack, woodcutter, feller, this dangerous occupation goes by many names. But if you ask a Dwight Fremont, he'd tell you he's a logger, a proud blogger from Wilsall, Montana.
Dwight Fremont: I grew up in a logger family. My dad logged his whole life, and that's all we've ever known. His dad logged in Wisconsin.
TIM BRANSON: Dwight has had more than his share of injuries, but what happened one summer day in 2001 nearly cost him his life. Around nine o'clock in the morning, Dwight started his skidder and began hauling his load to the landing at the top of the hill.
Dwight Fremont: I think about the third trip down the hill, and I hooked the trees up, and when I was going up the hill, that’s where the problem started.
TIM BRANSON: Halfway up the steep hill, the skidder began to roll back.
Dwight Fremont: When I put the brakes on to hold it there, the brake linkage broke. And so the skidder began to just freewheel backwards off the hill as fast as it could go. So in just a split instant I decided to just bail off. When I jumped off the machine was already bouncing and crashing down the hill and when I went to jump off my feet apparently slipped, and I went right under the front wheel.
TIM BRANSON: The 14-ton skidder crushed Dwight then continued its roll down the hill.
Dwight Fremont: I sat up, and when I tried to sit up, internally I could feel a lot of things moving around. And so I knew was internally hurt real bad.
TIM BRANSON: Dwight’s dad, Dwayne, was working nearby. He ran to the top of the landing to check on his son.
Dwayne Fremont: I could see his skidder tipped over way down in there, and I said, “Lord please don’t let him be under there.”
Dwight Fremont: He knew something bad had happen, and I said, “I know I need a helicopter.” I knew I was all broken up inside.
TIM BRANSON: Dwayne knew if he tried to move Dwight, he could make his injuries worse. He desperately wanted to stay by his side, but if his son had any hope of surviving, he would have to leave and get help.
Dwayne Fremont: I just ran out of there and got in his pick up and drove up out of there. I was praying all whole way that there’d be somebody at the ranch, and the ranch lady was home.
Dwight Fremont: He was praying on the way, and he sure enough, there was a lady there. She dialed 911 and tried to get some emergency people to come.
TIM BRANSON: Two emergency vehicles were dispatched, an ambulance from Livingston that was 50 miles away and a helicopter from Billings that had to travel 140 miles. Dwayne called his wife, Lois, and returned to his son.
Dwight Fremont: I believe it was about an hour before he got back. He came down and he sort of shook me and said kind of loud, “Dwight, can you hear me? Are you alright?”
Dwayne Fremont: I put my hands up and hollered at him. “I’m okay Dad,” he said.
Best words I heard in my life.
Dwight Fremont: I don’t consciously remember saying it, but he told me I said, “Yeah, yeah, Dad. I’m all right.”
TIM BRANSON: Together they waited two more hours before the ambulance made it up the mountain. At once EMTs started prepping him for helicopter transport. Within minutes, Dwight heard a wonderful sound. Back at home, Dwight’s mother was asking God to heal her son.
Lois Fremont: I just needed to take it to the Lord in prayer. I called The 700 Club and asked them if they’d pray with me. That was a real comfort just to know that it was all in God’s hands.
TIM BRANSON: Dwight was rushed to the emergency room in Billings.
Beth Burnette (ICU RN): Dwight came in with severe crush injuries to his chest. Ribs were broken on both sides of his chest. We call that a “flail chest.” The lungs don’t work properly at that time. It looks like a seesaw. And he also had bleeding, severe abdominal bleeding. Most people who have the injuries that Dwight had never make it to the hospital alive.
Lois Fremont: People started praying right away, and they would call friends in other churches and other states; and people were praying for Dwight all over the country.
TIM BRANSON: Dwight spent 21 days in ICU. And every day someone stayed with him and prayed over him.
Dwight Fremont: That was a huge, a huge boost to my spirit and helped, I believe, in my healing.
TIM BRANSON: Twelve surgeries and seven weeks later, Dwight went home.
Beth Burnette (ICU RN): Dwight is a miracle, because not only did he live, but he lived to fully recover and live a normal life.
Lois Fremont: We just saw God’s hand working, because we still have our son today because of the power of prayer.
Dwight Fremont: I wouldn’t hesitate at all to say that I believe it’s just 100 percent a miracle.

TERRY AND GORDON PRAY FOR NEEDS
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Call on me, call on me. That's what God says to us, to his children. He says call on me. I’m there with you. I’m faithful, and He's there for you today. I know that many of you are facing situations, and you're thinking, “I’d like somebody to pray for me like that.” You know, you don’t wait for people to pray for you. You have access to the throne room of God. You can go directly in, but today we want to join you in your prayer in petitioning God to meet the things that are needs in your life. We want to encourage your faith by telling you of some other situations where God has intervened. This is Glenda. She's from Enid, Oklahoma. She suffered from abdominal pain for several weeks. Her doctor ordered an abdominal ultrasound. The test showed there was a spot on either her liver or gallbladder, so he ordered additional scans. Meanwhile she's watching this program, and Gordon, the Lord gave you a word of knowledge and you said, “someone else with your gallbladder: extreme pain. God's healing that, taking away those stones from you. He's able to dissolve them. In Jesus’ name be healed.” So Glenda claimed the word and began to feel better that day. This was the same day that she underwent the additional testing. Therefore days later she got a call from the doctor’s office telling her the scans had come back clear. The spot was completely gone.
GORDON ROBERTSON: Praise God. Here’s Shirley, from Matheson, Illinois. She began having severe pain in her heart and chest from acid reflux. Since she could not afford to see a doctor, she continued to hurt over six months. She was very concerned because of her own mother's condition with acid reflux, that turned into a deadly disease which eventually took her life. Last October she was watching The 700 Club. Terry, you had a word of knowledge, “Someone has extreme acid reflux, and you've had it for a long time. God is healing that.” Shirley claimed her healing and felt immediately relief. She no longer has pain or heartburn. Now, God is in the healing business. He wants to heal. When you look at the Scripture, the Scripture says He forgives all our iniquities, and he heals all our diseases. Now start thinking about Heaven. Is there anybody sick? Does anybody have gallstones? Anybody have acid reflux? Anybody got a rash? Start thinking of the big ones. Cancer, stroke, paralysis, infirmity, inability to walk, deafness, does anybody have that? Well, the answer is clearly, no. And Jesus instructed us in the Lord's prayer, that Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. When we understand the authority we have as ambassadors from him. He's authorized us, He's commissioned us to go and preach the good news. Speak it forth. When we speak forth the good news, that God wants to forgive all your iniquities. God wants to heal all your diseases. When we left the good news out, that's when we see it. The Bible says, the Gospel, the good news, is the power of God. It's the message. It's what Jesus came to do, and when we get all of that down, and we speak it forth, “I believed in my heart, therefore I spoke.” Then you see it happen. So, I think faith is an action. I don't just think it, I know it. Faith is an action. You packed your belief. So you expect something to happen when you have faith. It's evidence of things not seen. Substance. So you act, in Jesus says if you believe in your heart, then whatever it is you're asking for, if you believe in your heart, and do not doubt, whatever you ask for, you will get. So let's just believe right now. And in an act of faith, lay your hand on that area of the body that needs healing. In were going to pray, and we’re going to believe God. And God says, if two or more agree touching anything, it shall be done. So we're going to lay hands. We're going to speak out the good news, that's the power of God unto salvation. And we're going to believe God for miracles for you. Jesus came for you. He loves you. He died for you. By his stripes you were healed. And when you get all that, you get all the faith you need. Just look to him, and let him do it for you, and just rely on him. Let's pray. “Lord, we just lift the needs of the audience to you right now. And as people are laying hands on that area of the body that needs healing, we join together with them. We come into agreement with them, and we speak out loud, be healed, in the name of Jesus, and be made whole. Now Lord we just ask that your presence would come. You're Holy Spirit. Your breath, we just come to them. And let them be filled with your glory. Let it be in their lungs, in their innermost being, and with their breath, let them praise you for what you have done for them. Let them be set free from depression. Cancer, we curse you at the source. You must leave this body and reproduce no more. You must go now in Jesus’ name. God, it you made legs to walk, you didn't make them to sit in wheelchairs. You may years to hear, so we open them now, in Jesus’ name. You made eyes so that they would see, so open now in Jesus’ name. In the name of Jesus.” Someone with an infection in your brain, it's in the membrane surrounding the brain, God is just speaking directly to you for that issue, to give you the faith to believe that it's you. So you're healed, and that inflammation is leaving you. The headache is leaving you. The disorientation is leaving you now, in Jesus’ name. Terry.
TERRY MEEUWSEN: Someone, you have recurring bladder infections, and it's really a problem and it effects your lifestyle. God is touching and healing your body, just restoring wholeness and there will be no more of that. Someone else, you have some ligaments in your back that have really been injured or damaged in some way, and it's so painful, especially when you're lowering yourself into a chair or something. God is healing that condition for you. Just putting that all back into position. Somebody else, you have like a recurring gout. It's so painful in your feet. It's both feet, and God is healing that for you right now. You'll not have that again.
GORDON ROBERTSON: There’s someone with a crushed injury to your left foot, were something rolled over the toes and the ball of the foot. God is healing that. He's able to give you back your ability to walk on that leg, in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. If you've been touched by God, we want to share in your good report, so call us.
