Transcript

Man: The next I knew, I was upside down. LEE WEBB: A top skateboarder hits rock-bottom. Man: Bolted that thing on my head, and it was, like, pretty gnarly. LEE WEBB: And then . . . . Man: I knew something was wrong and I looked up and Carter wasn't to be seen. LEE WEBB: . . . . a camper falls 60 feet into the waters below. Man: It didn't even look like Carter. From that moment on, I thought he was dead. LEE WEBB: How he survived, on today's 700 Club. Man: Then we heard this gurgling noise. It sounded almost like water going down a drain. * * * PAT ROBERTSON: Well, welcome to The 700 Club. I know you've got politics on your mind, but the big story is . . . . TERRY MEEUWSEN: Denver? PAT ROBERTSON: Yes, of course! TERRY MEEUWSEN: I never know with you. PAT ROBERTSON: Tim Tebow! TERRY MEEUWSEN: Tim Tebow. What a pass! PAT ROBERTSON: Did you watch? TERRY MEEUWSEN: Oh my gosh! Did I watch? We were screaming. PAT ROBERTSON: Can you believe that guy? TERRY MEEUWSEN: Amazing. It was a great game. On the behalf of both teams, it was a great game. But wow, what a pass that was! PAT ROBERTSON: Of course, you felt sorry for Pittsburgh, because the quarterback has a bad ankle and everything, but I'm telling you, Tebow, the critics are beginning to have egg all over their face. Well, so much for the fun stuff, now let’s talk about serious. The New Hampshire primary takes place tomorrow, and it looks like, you guessed it, the former governor of Massachusetts is poised for a big victory. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Well, the question remains can anyone stop Mitt Romney from winning the Republican nomination? David Brody has the story from Manchester, New Hampshire. NEW HAMPSHIRE Mitt Romney: What a welcome! I can't get over this! DAVID BRODY: New Hampshire gives Mitt Romney an air of confidence as he tries to close the deal. Mitt Romney (R-Presidential Candidate): The president has made it harder for this economy to reboot. He did not cause this recession; he just made it worse. DAVID BRODY: Polls have consistently shown the former Massachusetts governor on top here. If that's still the case Tuesday, the big question is who will finish second? Santorum supporters: Go Rick, Go Rick! DAVID BRODY: Maybe Rick Santorum who virtually tied Romney in Iowa by winning over evangelicals. This week he’s seen large crowds and heard prayers from supporters. Santorum supporter: Lord, we thank you for Rick. We pray your blessing upon him. DAVID BRODY: Senator, have you ever prayed in a pharmacy before? Rick Santorum (R-Presidential Candidate): It’s my first. Well, I probably have prayed, but not publicly. DAVID BRODY: But with fewer evangelicals here, Santorum has an uphill climb. That leaves an opening for Ron Paul, Jon Huntsman, and Newt Gingrich, something CBN news spoke to Gingrich about aboard his bus. Newt Gingrich (R-Presidential Candidate): I can't tell you what percent we will get, because Huntsman has been here forever. Ron Paul is running for reelection, running for the third or fourth time. But I think that we will do well enough to be serious, and I think at least what we're seeing right now is that Romney is starting to decay. DAVID BRODY (Manchester, NH): Even though Mitt Romney says he's the best bet to beat President Obama in 2012, voters are not quite sure. They're looking for a more conservative candidate. And that person has been dubbed with a superhero title, “The Anti-Romney.” John Coolidge (New Hampshire Voter): I think a lot of us are not quite ready to settle for a Mitt Romney. Would like to see someone who is a little bit more conservative. So what you hear about all the time is “anybody but Mitt Romney.” GRAPHIC: ABC NEWS GRAPHIC: MEET THE PRESS DAVID BRODY: Two debates this weekend gave challengers the chance to gang up on Romney and make the case that he's not conservative enough. Rick Santorum (From TV Debate): We want someone when the time gets tough, and it will in this election, we want someone who’s going to stand up and fight for the conservative principles, not bailout and not run, and not run to the left of Ted Kennedy. Mitt Romney (From TV Debate): You have to choose someone who's not been a lifelong politician. Who has not spent his entire career in Washington, and instead has proven time and again he can lead. In the private sector twice. In the Olympics, and as a governor. Rick Santorum: Well, if his record was so great as governor of Massachusetts, why didn't you run for reelection? Mitt Romney: This for me, politics is not a career. For me, my career was being in business, and starting a business, and making it successful. My life's passion has been my family, my faith, and my country. Newt Gingrich (From TV Debate): Can we drop a little bit of the pious baloney? The fact is, you ran in 94 and lost. That's why you weren't serving in the Senate with Rick Santorum. DAVID BRODY: Non Romney candidates, like Rick Santorum and Ron Paul, sought to be the conservative alternative by squabbling. Ron Paul (R-Presidential Candidate): He’s a big government, big spending individual, because he preached the fact that he wanted a balanced budget amendment, but voted to raise the debt to five times. Rick Santorum: I'm a conservative. I'm not a libertarian. I believe in some government. DAVID BRODY: Overall these debates leave Romney still in command with many political observers wondering can anyone stop him? David Brody CBN News, in Manchester, New Hampshire. PAT ROBERTSON: Thanks, David. You know, Ron Paul got so nasty with calling Newt, I think, a draft dodger. It was just awful some of the stuff. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Well, election years are not fun for the public to contend with. PAT ROBERTSON: Well, in your own party, you just don't have that internecine warfare. What you do is set your other guy to be defeated by the man you're trying to beat. You're trying to beat the Democrat, not one another. I mean, what do you win? They have the so-called term “Pyrrhic Victory;” when it's all finished, you haven't won anything, because there's nothing left to win. I don't think that's too smart. I understand that Sheldon Adelson, the gambling multibillionaire, got big stakes, I think, in Macau. He put up $5 million for a super pac to help Newt, so going to South Carolina, Newt may be able to match Mitt Romney, clip for clip, and insult for insult. But Newt’s charm was rising above the pack in being the avuncular elder statesman. And if he comes down and just takes off the gloves and starts slugging it out in a partisan fashion, he's going to lose. He'll just lose. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Is it possible to win without being the biggest, having the biggest war chest? PAT ROBERTSON: No. In today's world, almost impossible. TERRY MEEUWSEN: That’s a sad commentary. PAT ROBERTSON: Well, it is a sad commentary, but that is just the way it is, because that’s an organizational thing. The guys out there in front, he's been raising money for ever. It's just too bad, but that's the way it goes. The McCain-Feingold Act is so restrictive for candidates that they are limited dramatically: 2500 on the primary, 2500 in the general and so forth and so on. The most somebody can give, I think, to a candidate for all of them is like $9,600. So how do they raise money? Well, they're restricted, and the parties are having trouble, and John McCain and Russ Feingold did a number on the Republican and the Democratic parties and left open the door for the super pacs. Well, that's for another day; but, yes, it's money, and if you haven't got it, you're not going to win. Well Lee Webb has the rest of our top stories from the CBN News room. Lee. GRAPHIC: BUSINESSES & THE ELECTION LEE WEBB: Pat, you saw and heard in David Brody's package there, the candidates cover a number of issues, but the economy continues to be the priority for voters. Jennifer Wishon on talked to New Hampshire small business owners about what they are looking for in a candidate. NEW HAMPSHIRE BUSINESSES JENNIFER WISHON: Bud Evans and his sister, Anne, run the Derry New Hampshire Feed and Supply store their father started after World War II. Over the years it has become a popular stop for presidential candidates. But Evans isn't interested in showmanship. He's looking for substance. Bud Evans (Derry Feed and Supply Co.): We need to have steady leadership from the top, because there isn't any. We need to be in a firm direction so we know what we are heading towards. There's no confidence and people are just stuck in neutral, and it's just not getting better, and people are getting very frustrated. JENNIFER WISHON: After the housing boom busted, his family business took a hit. Bud Evans: I did like Perry, but the in-state tuition for illegal aliens killed it for me, because I can't work any harder. I can't support any more freebies. JENNIFER WISHON (Derry, NH): He also worries what the new healthcare law will mean for his business. At just over five percent, New Hampshire's unemployment rate is well below the national average. There's no personal income tax or general sales tax. But citizens are still feeling the pinch, and small business owners are getting creative. Jeffery Traverf (Small Business Owner): I used to have a gift shop, and when the economy bottomed out, we decided to close the gift shop and just go to craft fairs. I make everything out of my mobile home right off the kitchen table. Last year was better than this year. This year is tougher. JENNIFER WISHON: Are you following the presidential primary? Jeffery Traverf: I am very much so. And I think that's going to have a huge bearing on the economy. Marie-Christine Minnix: I do private parties, like a birthday party. JENNIFER WISHON: Kitchen and bath designer Marie Christine Minnix shares a similar story. When people stop building and renovating . . . . Marie-Christine MinNix: Ladies and gentlemen, ready! JENNIFER WISHON: She dug out her grandmother’s Belgian waffle recipe and started her own business. GRAPHIC: MARIE-CHRISTINE MINNIX WANT WAFFLES Marie-Christine MinNix (Want Waffles): It was famine or finding something else to make my living with. So Belgian waffles on a stick, that's how it is. JENNIFER WISHON: New Hampshire's small business owners say consumers are holding onto their cash and doing research before spending. That's why Michelle Holbrook feels fortunate. Michelle Holbrook: This is our caramel popcorn. We got “Best of New Hampshire.” JENNIFER WISHON: Her business is growing. Michelle Holbrook: We have what we call an “affordable indulgence.” JENNIFER WISHON: Holbrook is interested in a leader who will preserve New England entrepreneurial spirit. Michelle Holbrook (Michele’s Sweet Shoppe): There's a lot of people out here are hard workers, and they just have the drive to do something, and the fact that they can't find a job; they're going to create their own job. JENNIFER WISHON: Back at Derry Feed and Supply, Bud Evans predicts a heavy voter turnout tomorrow as New Hampshire Republicans throw their support behind the candidate they believe can shift the economy from neutral back into high gear. Jennifer Wishon, CBN News, Derry, New Hampshire. EUROPEAN DEBT CRISIS LEE WEBB: Several key events this year will determine how well Europe handles its debt crisis. Fears of a Greek default are growing again. Greece is trying to work out a deal with its creditors to avoid default and get back on its feet. Economists, though, are worried that if Greece does default, it could create problems for Italy and other countries, and they’re worried that a recession in Europe could hurt the US economy. TEBOW TIME LEE WEBB: Three straight losses to close out the regular season had a lot of the so-called experts believing Tebow Time had run out. Well, not just yet. Tim Tebow had his best game as a pro and led Denver to a stunning 29-23 overtime win over the defending AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Mark Martin has the highlights. MARK MARTIN: Talk about excitement, even if you’re not a Denver Broncos fan. On the first play of overtime against the Pittsburg Steelers, Tebow threw an amazing 80-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas to give the Broncos the win. The 11-second play led to the quickest overtime in NFL history. After the victory Tebow knelt, giving the glory to God. Tim Tebow (Quarterback, Denver Broncos): I'm just so blessed to have an opportunity to be the quarterback for the Denver Broncos and play a game in front of such great fans and with great teammates. And I'm just very thankful for the platform that God has given me. MARK MARTIN: Tebow threw for two touchdowns, ran for another, and finished with 316 passing yards. All this despite completing just 10 of his 21 throws. Tim Tebow: One of the great things about our team is we're a team that constantly believes, believes in each other, believes in ourselves, believes in the coaches and what they're trying to do. MARK MARTIN: Tebow also had kind words for playoff-tough Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Tim Tebow: What a great player he is! He's someone that I've watched for years, and how clutch he was to come back, and he played so well in this game. He’s someone that I’ve watched a long time. MARK MARTIN: The playoffs returned to Mile High Stadium for the first time since this game, the AFC Championship in 2006, when the Steelers beat the Broncos. History would not repeat itself this time as once again it was "Tebow time." Crowd: Tebow! Tebow! Tebow! MARK MARTIN: Now Tebow and the Broncos are on to Foxboro, MA, for a "Tim versus Tom" rematch. The Broncos take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots this Saturday. Mark Martin, CBN News. LEE WEBB: The Broncos lost to the Patriots in Denver, 41-23, just three weeks ago. Tebow threw three interceptions in that game. This game will be at New England. So the Broncos do have a big mountain to climb to make it to the AFC Championship game. To hear more about Tim Tebow . . . . GRAPHIC: LOG ON TO CBN.COM . . . . about his faith, and how he handles the pressure of playing quarterback in the NFL, go to our CBN sports page or our Facebook page where sports reporter Shawn Brown sits down for a one-on-one with Tim Tebow. Pat, I know you watch the game. PAT ROBERTSON: I wouldn't have missed it. I was waiting, and waiting, and waiting. He threw like he had lasers on his arm. It was unbelievable! Did you see those long passes? TERRY MEEUWSEN: But that last one was the beauty. It was just a bomb. PAT ROBERTSON: I think John Elway—by the way Roethlisberger, wears the same number, the number seven, that John Elway used to; because Elway was Roethlisberger’s hero. And so Elway told Tim Tebow “just get out there and throw the ball. Stop waiting so long, and just fling it on out there.” And man, man. TERRY MEEUWSEN: He listened. PAT ROBERTSON: He listened. Whoo! Well, we’ll see what happens. I think given the spirit and the thrust of that team, they might just take New England and go into the Super Bowl. TERRY MEEUWSEN: You know that what people say is expected in sports often is overturned. I think you're right about that. I would almost rather be the underdog coming into some things, like politics, surprise them. PAT ROBERTSON: I watched all the experts sit around a little table, Howie Long and all, and they all said that Pittsburgh was going to beat Denver, all of them. There wasn't one person that said it was going to be Denver. Yet, from the get-go, whoo! TERRY MEEUWSEN: It was amazing. PAT ROBERTSON: You’ve got to hand some credit to John Fox who's the coach of Denver. He's put out some pretty fancy plays. He sees . . . . TERRY MEEUWSEN: And what a great year for him! PAT ROBERTSON: . . . . some of those crossing routes that they do. The guys open, but man. Your quarterback’s got to hit them, and he's hitting them right on the numbers! Alright, so much for football. TERRY MEEUWSEN: It was a fun day. PAT ROBERTSON: Amen! TERRY MEEUWSEN: Well, coming up, thousands of victims of sex trafficking and right here in America. Woman: You can pull any city up and see ad, after ad after ad. We saw ad, maybe said 19, and Sheila looked every bit of 12 to 13 years old. TERRY MEEUWSEN: See how a ministry is reaching and rescuing victims of the sex trade. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LEE WEBB: Got a question for Pat? A million women, one million every year, a lot of the little girls, are trafficked as sex slaves. Out of the former Soviet Union, out of Eastern Bloc countries, out of Cambodia, out of India, all around. 1 million. And here in the United States awareness of sex trafficking is growing. But there are only a handful of shelters to help the victims. Heather Sells reports on a faith-based ministry were young women abused by the sex trade are being rescued. FOCUS PKG: SEX TRAFFICKING VICTIMS MINISTRY HEATHER SELLS: It’s a cold, quiet night outside in Nashville, but inside who knows how many girls are being held by threats and coercion, forced to sell themselves. In a nearby city, a small group of volunteers with Rahab’s Hope is planning a search-and-rescue of sorts. They're targeting these girls hoping to reach as many as possible. A lot of trafficking victims today are not out on the streets, so where to find them, Rahab’s Hope has learned that often times these girls are just a phone call away. Emily Fitchpatrick (Rahab’s Hope): We started doing research on Craig's list and Back Page, and saw thousands of Ads. I mean, you can pull any city up and see ad after ad. HEATHER SELLS: This ministry is the brainchild of Emily Fitchpatrick who also started Hope House, a shelter for trafficking victims. Emily Fitchpatrick: We saw ads that had young girls, and their face was blurred, so to us that look like she could've been a minor. And we saw girls that the ad maybe said 19, and she looked every bit of 12 to 13 years old. HEATHER SELLS: Volunteers start with prayer and keep it going while the calls go out. Each caller has a prayer partner at her side. They refer to a list of resources in the city targeted at night and work from a script that discreetly identifies the extent that a pimp may be controlling a girl. Volunteer: Are you able to talk to your family? Emily Fitchpatrick: We have to approach it very gently, very openly, just whatever your needs are, we’re here. If they're not ready to leave, there's nothing we can do about that. But, we have had girls say, “No I’m not ready to leave, but I'll take your number,” and they called later and said, “I think I'm ready.” HEATHER SELLS: Many girls are not even free to talk, so controlled by their pimps that they have to hang up. But since it started last year, Rahab’s Hope has spoken close to a thousand victims in 19 cities. It partners with law enforcement and in the last year has helped to rescue four girls. Many are brainwashed and deny that they’re even being trafficked. Others are able to admit the horror of their world. Kim Kern (Rahab’s Hope): We've had girls as soon as we said, “Is there anything I can pray for you,” burst into tears. “I hate what I'm doing. I hate this.” HEATHER SELLS: On this particular night, Kern has a long conversation with just such a victim. She tells Kern she's six months pregnant. Kim Kern (On phone with victim): Wow. It must be really hard. HEATHER SELLS: Kern is able to help Ashley think through her options and pray with her. But even Kern, who's been making calls for months now, is overcome with emotion as she hangs up. In an adjacent room, volunteer Michelle Kent encourages another victim who shares her dream of getting out and going back to school. Michelle Kent (Rahab’s Hope Volunteer, on phone with victim): And I can tell by talking to you that you're right on, and you’re a very smart woman. I know that you can achieve anything that you would set your mind to. I can tell, I hear it, I can hear it in your voice. HEATHER SELLS: If the work of Rahab’s Hope seems laborious, it’s nothing compared to the intensity of its sister organization, Hope House. Nestled in a remote part of North Carolina, the shelter serves just a few victims at a time. Board member John Parish admits the process of restoring young girls after life on the streets is tougher than he ever imagined. John Parish (Hope House): It's not about numbers. It's about one-on-one. It's about face to face. It's about one to two years that you're talking about in terms of redemptive process with this. HEATHER SELLS: Daily life at Hope House includes lots of mentoring and informal counseling. The girls also participate in homeschooling, therapy, and new-found hobbies like making jewelry. Across the country, Christian groups wanting to fight human trafficking are keeping a close eye on what's happening here. Fitchpatrick says she's regularly besieged by calls and requests for information. They come from churches that want to start their own shelters. Emily Fitchpatrick: Because we take girls that come directly off the streets to Hope House, I feel like that a lot of what we're doing is stabilizing them, helping them learn healthy boundaries, helping them learn self-esteem, maybe some trust that there are people that care. HEATHER SELLS: For both Rahab's Hope and Hope House, the journey of finding, rescuing, and beginning to restore victims is no sprint. It's more like a marathon for each girl. The trauma they've endured is hard to imagine. But these workers say each rescue and restoration is worth the time and cost. Reporting in North Carolina, Heather Sells, CBN News. PAT ROBERTSON: Thanks, Heather. Congratulations to those two excellent ministries. I want to point out that Regent University has started a center for abused women and sex trafficked. The thing that is important, though, is to recognize that in these cities where these girls are forced into prostitution, they are picked up, and arrested, and charged with a crime, a misdemeanor or worse. Instead of being treated as a victim, they're being treated as a perpetrator, and they face jail. So, we have to get to the point where the legal system understands that these women are victims, and they need to have the support of the authorities, state and federal in getting them out. But in any event, congratulations to those who are helping, and we need to have all of us praying and alerted to this very, very serious evil that takes place in our midst. Terry. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Well, coming up, a camper falls off a cliff and his buddy finds him in a river 60 feet below. Man: Brought Carter to the surface. It didn't even look like Carter. From that moment on, I thought he was dead. If not, you need to know that the paper dollars you've invested your life savings in are being consumed right now in a growing blaze of inflation and declining value. Economists know why the dollar is burning and at risk of crashing. It's because politicians and central bankers keep printing them, and this makes the dollars you've worked so hard to for, worth less and less. The politicians and bankers hated the gold standard, because it forced them to be honest. That's why the US dollar keeps losing value and could soon crash. The good news is that you can create your own personal gold standard and keep your savings protected when the dollar crashes. Call or visit online now. When he found his friend, Carter Crutchfield, at the bottom of a river, he used his expertise to help Carter survive drowning. But it was the power of prayer to that fully restored him. Watch this. PATRICK DAUPHIN & CARTER CRUTCHFIELD MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: College buddies Carter Crutchfield and Patrick Dauphin went camping in north Alabama with a few friends. Patrick Dauphin: I found the perfect, most beautiful campsite right over this 60-foot valley, and I thought it would be perfect. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: Everything was going as planned. The tents were up. The campfire was burning. Patrick Dauphin: Then the fire starts to die down, and that’s I guess where the incident starts to happen. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: The guys split up to look for more firewood. Carter Crutchfield: I had a big limb that I put behind the fire, and so I was jumping on top of it to try to get it to crack, and either one of two things happened. One was I couldn’t get it to break, and it acted as a springboard and threw me backwards, or it broke before I was expecting, and then it cracked, and then I fell backwards after losing my balance. Patrick Dauphin: I knew something was wrong, and I looked up, and Carter wasn’t to be seen. So I knew immediately what had happened. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: Carter fell 60 feet into the river below, bouncing off a smaller ledge on the way down. Patrick Dauphin: I told Miller to immediately go get cell phone service and try to call for help. It would take me two minutes to get down to that smaller ledge, realized he wasn’t there. So I immediately backtracked, ran back through. Finally, after about three or four minutes, I made my way back to the river. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: Carter wasn’t floating, so Patrick searched under the water. Patrick Dauphin: After two or three times of feeling, I kicked something, some movable object. I knew what it was. I brought Carter to the surface, and it didn’t even look like Carter. From that moment on, I thought he was dead. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: Patrick and Keith pulled Carter to the edge of the water. Patrick started CPR. Patrick Dauphin: Eight minutes passed. I was getting tired. Keith Gray and I swapped positions. I held him up on the rock, held his neck stable, and he began the chest compressions. After a few more minutes, we swapped again. Then we heard this gurgling noise. It sounded almost like a drain, water going down a drain. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: They did CPR for 12 minutes until Carter started to breathe. Then he only took one shallow breath per minute. Carter’s shoulder blade was visible. His ear was partially torn off. But the most life-threatening injury was two collapsed lungs. The paramedics and a helicopter arrived forty-five minutes after the accident. At the hospital, the doctors had his parents fill out organ donor forms. Bob Crutchfield: The surgeon basically told us that his condition was grave and that his chances of survival were slim. We’re guessing that he was oxygen deprived somewhere between 20 minutes or more, so it’s a long time. The guidance that we were being given from the medical staff early on was that some level of serious cognitive impairment was to be expected. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: Carter made it through the night, but Patrick and Carter’s dad knew prayer was their only hope. Patrick Dauphin: Right when we got there, Mr. Crutchfield led us into a prayer. He started a website, or a posting at a website called CaringBridge.org where he posted Carter’s updates and put specific things to pray for. Bob Crutchfield: And so we’d only put four or five specific requests each update. But here’s where the miracle was. Each, and I’m going to get emotional, because between each update, the specific requests were being answered. So there’s no question that He was hearing, that He was answering our petitions. Patrick Dauphin: Every single prayer, everything he said to pray for, actually, miraculously came true. I think I looked one time, and he had been posting it for a couple of days, and there were over 1,300 responses. Bob Crutchfield: There was this intimacy that I can only envision as being as what Heaven is going to be like in some way, because you just had this—you knew that these people were praying for you and your family, and there was the common bond of Christ that was connecting us. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: After two weeks Carter woke from a coma. Bob Crutchfield: He was himself when he woke up. It was truly, from our perspective, miraculous. Carter Crutchfield: I feel like it really was a miracle just for the simple stats that the doctors gave and the chances they gave me for survival. And just falling 60 to 65 feet off a cliff and surviving. I feel like the fact that God allowed me to survive and kind of gave that opportunity to me is a miracle. Bob Crutchfield: God heard the prayers of all these people on our behalf to pray for our son, and He answered, and to His glory. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * HOSTS PRAY FOR NEEDS PAT ROBERTSON: How wonderful that the body of Christ can come together and pray, and when we pray God answers. He hears and answers. Well, you have an answer, and I have an answer. TERRY MEEUWSEN: I do. This is Patricia, she lives in Wailuku, Hawaii. She had a mammogram, and a showed a large mass in her right breast so her doctor scheduled a biopsy to determine if it was cancer. Meanwhile her mom was watching this program and heard a word of knowledge from you Pat. “God’s just healed breast cancer. That cancer is shrinking, tumors are going in the name of Jesus. You will be healed.” She received the word for her daughter and then Patricia claimed it for herself. The biopsy revealed two masses, but a week later the doctor confirmed there were no more tumors and no cancer. PAT ROBERTSON: Hallelujah. Well, here's another. Lorena from new Smyrna Beach, Florida, was diagnosed with throat cancer. Although her doctor wanted to schedule surgery, Lorena trust to the Lord for her healing. One day she was watching The 700 Club. Terry had a word of knowledge. Quote, “You have a condition in your throat. I don't know what it is. It's more than just a sore throat. It's like there is a cutting in your throat. God is healing that condition and it's going to go away.” Lorena felt a warm tingling in her throat. The soreness was gone. The very next day her doctor confirmed her healing and she's had no more symptoms. Now folks, God plays no favorites. He loves us all. I was reading today where Jesus said, “I didn't come to judge the world, I came to save the world.” He came to say people. He came to save us. He came to heal us. He came to give himself that we might have life. So He wants to have you have an answer to your prayer. Terry and I are going to join together, and we're going to have a solemn covenant. We will pray for you right now. “And Father, Terry and I join together with thousands of people in this audience right now, and we believe God for them. In the name of Jesus.” Somebody is praying for a really big amount of money, I'm not going to name it on the air because it's so large, but you know what it is, and God is going to grant you your request. You will be amazed. Thank you, Lord. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Someone else you have a problem with your ear. It's not that you can't hear, but it's very muffled sounding, almost like you have something in your ear. God is healing that. You're going to feel it open up, there may even be a crackling sound in your ear as it’s restored to you. Someone else, you have broken your ankle, and it's not healing well. Right now the Lord is touching that heal, that bone, touching and healing it, and it's going to be stronger than before. PAT ROBERTSON: There is a festering sore in a woman's jawbone. This is a really serious thing, and God right now is touching it. You just feel the heat and the warmth of God. Just put your hand on that side of your face, in the name of Jesus. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Someone else is struggling with esophageal problems. It's not diagnosed as untreatable, but you're definitely struggling with it. God is healing that area of your body right now in Jesus’ name. PAT ROBERTSON: There are people in this audience who need peace, and the Lord is saying, “I'm going to give you peace. You need peace.” And the peace of God which passes understanding is going to keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Even as we pray now, that the peace of God bill and flood you now in Jesus’ name receive that peace, and may His blessing be upon you. Amen. Do you want to start? PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I'll let you know after you've given me the e-mail question. All right. Here we go. TERRY MEEUWSEN: The boat has left the dock. Here we go. Okay, this is Joe who says, “My next-door neighbors always fight with each other. I'm so afraid to talk to them about God, because one of them is a drug addict and he might hurt me. What should I do?” PAT ROBERTSON: Be very careful, I really believe. Just because he's an addict doesn't mean he's going to hurt you. I mean, he's probably suffering. They're not usually violent, so it may be that you could just say something gently. God loves you. God loves you. They're very few people who don't respond to love. You say God loves you or can I pray for you? TERRY MEEUWSEN: Yeah. You know, you need to pray and ask God to open that door, because she's hearing them fight with each other. So she, you don't know if they are violent or not. Sometimes being the prayer warrior, the wall of prayer. PAT ROBERTSON: The idea is, “Can I pray for you? And God loves you,” but you just don't go knocking on the door and hope for an entrance with a plate of cookies. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Or opening yours late at night. PAT ROBERTSON: That’s right. Okay. TERRY MEEUWSEN: This is Mary who says, “When it's time for prayer, it appears that you're getting a word from the Lord. Is this true? Or are you also using requests that are mailed in? What happens to those?” PAT ROBERTSON: The requests that are mailed in go into the great maw of CBN! TERRY MEEUWSEN: We have people that pray over every one of those, yes. PAT ROBERTSON: No, we're not using the requests. They are prayed for by a counselor and others. I can say that positively, because I don't know exactly what happens. TERRY MEEUWSEN: We have whole departments devoted to that. PAT ROBERTSON: Yeah, but as far as no, we're not using prayer requests. Were asking God to give us something, and we hope we're hearing from the Lord, and we hope that this is a word of knowledge, and it seems to be time, and time, and time again we’re answering people's needs, people whom we have never met, and never heard from. TERRY MEEUWSEN: This is Lois, who says, “I'm concerned about my two-year-old grandchild. He talks very little and has horrible temper tantrums. I'm worried that it's more than just the terrible twos. I'm worried that if I said something to the parents, they would fly off the handle. How do I get them to realize that this is not normal?” PAT ROBERTSON: I think if you've got a doctor to talk about it, it sounds like he could have a neurological impairment of some nature, and the least they could do is give him a brain scan and check them out. I think you could good grief, the parents, they're your children aren't they, one of them? TERRY MEEUWSEN: But, you know, sometimes it's an interesting thing, that sometimes when a parent doesn't want to deal with the fact that their child may have an issue, they just don't see it. They choose not to. That's a hard thing for a grand parent. You don’t really have, if you can’t talk about it, you’ve got a problem. PAT ROBERTSON: Get a doctor’s opinion, but it looks like to me you could sit down with your son and say, listen, I was watching this show on you know, the Health Channel or whatever, and they had this wonderful story about a little boy who had X, Y and Z, and it sounds very much like Charlie or whatever, and they had an answer, something. Go ahead. TERRY MEEUWSEN: This is Adrian who says, “Not too long ago I saw a documentary on National Geographic about the remain of an ape-like creature. Could this mean that evolution is at least partly true?” PAT ROBERTSON: Listen, there have been so many ape-like creatures of Piltdown Man and all these others. They have all so far, been proven to be hoaxes, and sure there are some skeletons out there of little critters that have humanoid features. There is no doubt about it, but it doesn’t prove evolution at all, not at all. TERRY MEEUWSEN: This is Shannon who wants to know, “Can unrighteous behavior of a spouse block the blessing of the righteous spouse?” PAT ROBERTSON: Well, it can block the blessings of God on a family, there’s no doubt about it, because God will deal with a family, especially the head of the family, which is the husband. But if you live for the Lord, there is nothing that is going to block His blessing to you personally. I just think that you need to pray for harmony. The thing that the Bible says, though, is make peace with your wife that your prayers be not hindered. So if you’re having a squabble with your wife, your prayers will be hindered. So the answer is the Bible says definitely, that’s the case. Alright. TERRY MEEUWSEN: This is Mark who says, I’ve heard people say that the unpardonable sin is a persistent act. I’ve heard others say it’s speaking bad about the Holy Spirit. What is it? PAT ROBERTSON: The people who were saying that he had an unclean spirit. And he was saying that—it’s the Greek aorist tense which is “one time,” like he hit me, boom. Not continued to hit me, because that’s the present tense. The aorist is one time. It’s a tough, tough, tough scripture, but the only unpardonable sin that I know of is resisting the Holy Spirit’s wooing to bring you to Jesus Christ. And if you turn Him down and say, “You are an unclean thing; I don’t want to listen to you,” then you will never know salvation, because salvation is in Jesus. It can’t be pardoned, because you come to the place where there is pardon. That’s tough, but that’s what it was, saying that Jesus Christ had an unclean spirit. That was that context. Alright. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Okay, this is Robert who says, “My mother thinks that the new heaven and earth are somewhere in outer space and that we can see it in the sky. What do I tell her?” PAT ROBERTSON: Tell her it’s not going to be revealed even through the most powerful telescopes. The new heaven and new earth actually are coming to be. The old is going to pass away, and all is become new, so God is going to recreate this world, and He’s going to make a new heaven and new earth. It isn’t there yet, from what the Bible says. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Exactly. PAT ROBERTSON: It’s not there. It’s going to be created. The old is going to pass away with fervent heat. It will all be burned up and then God will make something new. TERRY MEEUWSEN: And wonderful. PAT ROBERTSON: “Behold, I make all things new.” Alright. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TERRY MEEUWSEN: Well, imagine that you are expecting a promotion at work, but you get fired instead through no fault of your own. That’s just what happened to the man in our next story, take a look. AGUS' CHANGED LIFE KEN HULME: Agus loved his job as a supervisor in a factory in Indonesia. In fact, he was due for promotion. That is, until a coworker who wanted the same promotion plan to do a piece of company equipment in Agus’ bag. Security found it and Agus was fired. Agus: I was full of hatred for the man who did this to me. Then I started drinking and fighting with everyone, and my family started falling apart. KEN HULME: When alcohol fail to numb his pain and anger, Agus turned to his Muslim roots. Agus: I fasted every Monday, and I tried all the Islam rituals, but that didn't work, either. KEN HULME: Agus faced a growing emptiness inside. Late one night he came home and turned on the television. He stopped when he found CBN’s Solusi. Agus: Solusi was on at 2 in the morning. I watched the story of a man who had prayed to become a Christian. KEN HULME: When the host asked people to pray with him, Agus joined in. He asked Jesus to forgive him and prayed become a Christian. Agus: My heart that was full of hatred is now peaceful, and I can smile easily for the first time. KEN HULME: Recently Agus started attending a small church and even invited his wife to join him. And he's been able to find another job. Agus: Thanks to God, I watched Solusi, and God used Solusi to change my life. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TERRY MEEUWSEN: That Solusi program is happening in Agus’ part of the world. I didn't break my neck or anything. If they break their neck, they’re dead, right? PAT ROBERTSON: Well, not always. As a teenager, Jud Heald was fearless in both sports. He even have a shot at becoming a pro-boarder until an accident derailed him. JUD HEALD Mia Evans-Saracual: If it has wheels or moves fast, chances are Jud Heald has taken it for a ride. Jud Heald: Had three wheelers and four wheelers, and snowmobiles, go carts, and when I was 10 I had a Subaru brat. I skated every single day. There's definitely years that I didn't miss a single day of skateboarding. Mia Evans-Saracual: During the day, Jud was always on the go. He was always smoking pot. Jud Heald: Skateboarding kind of kept me out of it during the day, but once I had fulfilled the quota, I knew I had skated enough, I put enough time in, that's just where I ended up. I went across the road and hung out, and smoked. Mia Evans-Saracual: Jud skated through high school and got really good at it. He was on the verge of going pro when he went out for a day of snowboarding. Jud Heald: It wasn't a good lift. It just kind of threw you weird and as I spun off, I dropped my shoulder weird and the next thing I knew I was upside down. I just cleared the whole landing, landed in the flat of the half life. I don't know if you've ever been on a groomed mountain, but it ain't soft. And I lay there for a bit, and I moved my legs. It was like, okay, I didn't break my neck or anything, I'm good. Because on TV, if they break their neck they’re dead, right? Mia Evans-Saracual: But Jud had broken his neck. He fell 16 feet and landed on his head. Doctors fused two vertebrae together and stabilized his neck with a metal halo. Jud Heald: Bolted that thing on my head and had to have it tightened every couple weeks. It was like, pretty gnarly. Mia Evans-Saracual: Jud had one question for the doctor. Jud Heald: I was like, well, can I skate again? He was like, “Well, no!” And I’m like, I know it, not right now; but, I mean, will I ever be able to skate again? He’s like, “Look, things are going to be slow the next couple months. I don't know.” At that point it was like someone just told me my mom died. I cried the whole way home. Mia Evans-Saracual: After several months in the halo, Jud’s neck wasn't healing. It was actually getting worse. Jud never thought he really needed Jesus until then. In his desperation he prayed. Jud Heald: I just appealed to the Lord, and I knew through my mom, and seeing my mom pray, and petition in prayer, seeking the Lord, that God did answer prayer. So I knew that, and I saw that in her life, and I saw that played out in her life, and I had seen the Lord answer prayer before. “Lord, I want to be right again, and I know that you can do that. Will you heal me? We make the right so that I can be able to skate court again?” So I just kind of put it all in His hands and, “Lord if you want this to happen, you got to make it happen. Mia Evans-Saracual: Jud recovered in a matter of weeks. Witnessing his own amazing healing they didn't think a lot about his lifestyle. As a child he had prayed to become a Christian. Jud Heald: I knew right from wrong. I knew that I had sin in my life, because I was screwing around with drugs and stuff like that. Really through seeing the Lord heal my neck and move in that situation, it's brought my whole life in a whole different perspective. It's not one bit about what am I going to do in this world? It's what am I going to do that the Lord has called me to do today? Mia Evans-Saracual: Soon Jud was living his life for God and skating again. He turned pro in 1998. A few years later, he formed his own Christian skateboard team called “Untitled.” Jud Heald: What we’re trying to do with Untitled is to just be there consistently, so they can look into the skate culture and see, “Man, there are guys who are standing up for the Lord, and my grandmother is saying this.” Or “My mom is saying this,” or maybe it's your dad or whoever it is that’s in their life saying they need the Lord. But if they don't see it in their culture, they don't see it, they're saying I’m going the way of that culture. No matter where a kid is that in the skate culture, he can find believers who are standing up representing Christ and have a walk to go with it. So they can say, you know what, they just walk the walk. They are not posers, and they live out what they are saying. It’s good news. Are we scared of sharing good news? “Hey! I just won a million dollars!” It’s like, “I don’t want to tell anybody that I got,” you know, like, really? Like, share good news. If it's good to you, it's good to me, it's good to them. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * PAT MINISTER SALVATION PAT ROBERTSON: You know, if you had a million dollars to give to somebody, would you keep it quiet? Would you? If you wanted your neighbor, what’ll I say to my neighbor? If you go to your neighbor knock on the door and they say listen, I just got a million for you in his suitcase right here. It's all cash, and it's all free, tax-free, it's all yours. Would you be reluctant to do that? Well what Jud said was true. If you've got something really precious, wouldn't you want to share it with somebody else? We have something much more valuable than money. Much more valuable than money. And so is my pleasure today to share with you something that's much more valuable. If I could give you a million dollars, it wouldn't even come close to having eternal life, that you will spend eternity for ever, and ever, and ever in indescribable joy, joy unspeakable and full of glory. Would you like that? That's what God promises you. Again I was reading today where Jesus said, “I didn't come to judge the world but to save the world.” Jesus loves you, and what he says is, “If you will let Me come into your life, I will change you.” And He says that “repentance and forgiveness of sins would be preached in My name.” Repentance and forgiveness of sin. He wants to forgive you. Well, you say, “What did I do? Well, illicit sex. You had an abortion. You lied to your parents. You stole money from your employer. You used to fight and kill. You've been locked up for drug possession. All down the line, God says, “I forgive you. I forgive you. I’ll wipe the slate clean. I forgive you.” And if you want that forgiveness, pray with me now. All you have to do is ask Him and then surrender to him. Repentance and forgiveness of sin. Pray these words. “Lord, you know what I've done. You know the bad things. You know how I've broken the rules. You know how I have lived my own life. But, Lord, right now I turn away from that and I repent. I'm sorry, Lord. And I ask you to change me. I receive you as Savior and I make you Lord of my life. Forgive my sins, thank you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.” GRAPHIC: 1-800-759-0700 CBN.COM Tomorrow, I want you to stay with me right now. Right now I have something to give you, “A New Day.” I'll give it to you free. Call in right at this moment, 1-800-759-0700, and say, “I want that book, A New Day. I just prayed and I've given my heart to the Lord.” GRAPHIC: OUR GIFT TO YOU 1-800-759-0700 CBN.COM And by the way, we've got Drew Brees coming in tomorrow with this show.
