Woman: I don’t want to parade my body around to just anyone. * * * PAT ROBERTSON: Welcome to this edition of The 700 Club. The talking heads on TV have got to fill up air time, and so they have to talk about the horse race, and what happens if Romney loses Michigan, and what will this do to the Republican presidential race, etc. If you've been watching this program, these talking heads told you Romney was going to win Michigan and Arizona; and that's exactly what happened yesterday. He won both states’ primaries, and the battle in Michigan. It wasn't easy, but he won it. KRISTI WATTS: He sure did, Pat. In fact, David Brody has this look at Romney's victories and where the Republican race goes from here. THE REPUBLICAN RACE DAVID BRODY: For Mitt Romney, the victory in Arizona was sweet. Mitt Romney: What a night! Thank you! DAVID BRODY: It would have been sweeter had the contest in his native state of Michigan not been so close. Mitt Romney (R-Presidential Candidate): We didn’t win by a lot, but we won by enough, and that's all that counts. I know how government can kill jobs; and, yes, I know how it can help create jobs. And I stand ready to lead our party to victory in our nation back to prosperity. We’ll get the job done. DAVID BRODY: But team Santorum will say the tight race in a working-class state like Michigan points than in the right direction. Rick Santorum (R-Presidential Candidate): Are we a country that believes in big government? Do we believe in the smart and elite in this country to manage us? Or do you believe in a free people and a free economy and building a great America from the bottom up. What do you say? DAVID BRODY: This primary laid out challenges that each candidate might face in the general election. Romney can still sound out of touch with everyday Americans. Mitt Romney: I drove a Mustang and the Chevy pickup truck. Anne drives a couple of Cadillacs actually. DAVID BRODY: And Santorum can come off angry and zealous on social issues. Rick Santorum: I don't believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute. The idea that the church can have no influence or no involvement in the operation of the state is absolutely antithetical. DAVID BRODY: For now, this showdown moves to Super Tuesday where the other candidates hope to get back into the mix. Newt Gingrich (R-Presidential Candidate): The primary next week is going to be very, very important. We deliberately focused, we decided not to compete in Michigan, because we thought it would be important to focus here and to focus in Tennessee and in Oklahoma, in Idaho and Ohio, and the states that are going to be on Super Tuesday. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Presidential Candidate): The government under our Constitution is not supposed to be running a welfare state nor a warfare state. It's there to protect our liberties. That's what the job is. DAVID BRODY: The fight for the GOP nomination is far from over for the candidates . . . . Mitt Romney: So I'm trying to do better, and work harder, and make sure that we get our message across. I think in the final analysis, I anticipate becoming the nominee. DAVID BRODY: . . . . and the voters. Woman voter: I just think there are a lot of things in our country that we need to pay attention to, and our vote is going to influence how our country comes out of this. DAVID BRODY (Political Correspondent): Ten states are up for grabs on Super Tuesday. The campaigns have already begun crisscrossing the nation in the search for delegates. One thousand, one-hundred forty-four needed; and, Pat, I think this race is still yet to be decided. Back to you. PAT ROBERTSON: Well, David, did Santorum rip himself pretty badly with those push telephone calls to people, telling them, at least the Democrats, to vote? He was following the union script on that. Has that hurt him with conservatives, or have you been able to discern anything yet? DAVID BRODY: Well, there’s definitely been some pushback with conservatives. There is no doubt about that. The Romney campaign was obviously pushing back, but there were other conservative pundits and others that really gave him some bad press on that, for sure. But look, Pat, I mean, the flipside of this is it's an open primary, and you play by the rules, and you know the rules; and so, you know, there were times back in the 90s when Romney voted for Paul Tsongas, in essence to keep a Democrat from ultimately winning the nomination back then in the 90s. So this plays both ways. PAT ROBERTSON: All right, Newt is staking everything on this Super Tuesday thing. There really aren't enough delegates to swing it, are there? DAVID BRODY: Well, he’s got 76 in Georgia. It's the biggest prize. He's got to win the state. If not, he's pretty much out of the race at that point. He is leading in the polls down there. The problem for Gingrich is that’s the only state is leading in. Santorum right now is leading in Oklahoma, in Tennessee. He's also up by 11 in Ohio, which is going to be huge next week, 66 delegates there; and one of the key, obviously, battlegrounds states in the general election. So Newt Gingrich has a tough road ahead, and you would have to think that if Santorum can pull off five or six states, which is doable if you look at the polling, Pat, it's doable. Romney maybe only be able to win three, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Vermont next Tuesday. PAT ROBERTSON: Don’t you think Romney is going to fight for Ohio and some of these states? So far, Santorum hasn't been contested like he was in Michigan. DAVID BRODY: Well, that's absolutely right. He was outspent in Michigan five to one. As a matter of fact, on Wednesday, today, Mitt Romney will go to Toledo, Ohio. He will make another stop in Ohio. And where is Santorum today? He's down in Nashville, Tennessee. He believes he can really win down there. As a matter of fact, the Romney campaign is going to make it play in Tennessee, too. But Ohio is the place to watch, Pat. If Santorum can win Ohio, let's think about this for a moment. If Santorum wins Ohio, was the narrative next week? That Romney can't win Ohio in a general election contest where there is the rust belt state and white middle-class blue-collar voters. That will be the narrative. Let's just wait five days or so. This is like Days of Our Lives. I don't know what it's going to end. There's so many twists and turns. PAT ROBERTSON: Well, Romney is like a machine. He's just ruthless in the way he finishes off his opponents. They don't seem to have a chance. DAVID BRODY: No, he's bringing his A game, there's no doubt about it. And what we're finding out is that this guy has been seriously running for president all along. He's got great organization, great money, and in Michigan, early voting, absentee voting went very heavily towards Romney. People that actually made up their minds in 2011 overwhelmingly voted for Romney. During that November and December months in the campaign just a few months ago. They went for Romney. Now when Santorum started to finally catch fire in February, those folks broke in Michigan for Santorum. But it was a little too little too late, because Romney has been doing well structurally ever since the get-go. PAT ROBERTSON: David, keep watching it. It's interesting. Do you want to say when you think the end of this thing is going to be? What will terminate it in your opinion? DAVID BRODY: Yeah, I think this is going on into late April, possibly May. This is going to be a slow, slow process, Pat. I don't see this happening anytime soon, and it would not surprise me to see Santorum win in Ohio. I think that could be a potential game changer for Romney; because at that point, the mainstream media narrative—and this is a problem for Romney. He's got to watch that mainstream media narrative that will be that Romney cannot close the deal in places like Ohio. Michigan was friendly territory for him, because it was his home state. Ohio, a different ballgame. We're going to go up there and take a look at what's on the ground that there. PAT ROBERTSON: We will look for your reports. Ladies and gentlemen, you can always get the latest on the political races by checking out The Brody File on CBNNews.com. Well, Lee Webb has the rest of our top stories from the CBN Newsroom. Lee, what do you have? SNOWE RETIRES LEE WEBB: Pat, more political news. Sen. Olympia Snowe’s retirement opens up an unexpected seat to Democrats, and Republicans will fight for this fall. The Republican from Maine surprised Washington with her announcement that she will not run again. Her seat was considered a safe victory for Republicans this fall. Now Democrats will may get priority as they struggle to hold on to the Senate. The Democrats have an uphill battle there. They have 23 seats up for election. Republicans have only 10, Pat. PAT ROBERTSON: Well, Olympia Snowe is not exactly but a stalwart of the conservative movement. She's always been weak on various votes that the Conservatives needed, and there won't be any tears shed in the fact that she's leaving. The question is are there enough conservatives. The Tea Party is getting pretty strong in Maine. Can they select the candidate and put that candidate in office to replace Olympia Snowe? Otherwise the Democrats will pick up a seat. Lee. DOW 13,000 LEE WEBB: After several days of trying, the Dow finally closed above 13,000. But analysts say the road to 14,000 is likely to be bumpy. The stock market is off to a strong start this year, rising higher and faster than investors expected. But economists have pointed out those bumps in the road ahead. The rising price of oil and gasoline, the debt crisis in Europe, and a weak economic recovery. STATIN WARNING LEE WEBB: Federal health officials are adding new warning labels to cholesterol medicines containing statins. The Food and Drug Administration says the labels will warn of memory loss and higher blood sugar associated with taking the drugs. Tens of millions of people take statins to help prevent heart related problems associated with the high cholesterol. They are the most widely prescribed cholesterol-lowering medications. Studies, though, over the past five years have found a link between the drugs and type II diabetes. Pat. PAT ROBERTSON: Did you ever take that stuff? KRISTI WATTS: Absolutely not. PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I hope not. You stay healthy. You don't haven’t got cholesterol problems. I tell you what, I have been against those statins. I think they're dangerous. They lead people to incredible muscle aches and pains, and joint problems, and things like this, like suffering. Now this study didn't indicate the kidney problems, but earlier studies have indicated damage to the kidneys, the liver particularly. But in addition to that, now they're talking about diabetes being caused by these things. They’re dreadful. I know your doctors prescribe them, but I tell you what, get oat bran. It's real simple. You buy it at the grocery store. Get oatmeal. You buy that at the grocery store. Get some of these results of lecithin. If you ever taken lecithin? KRISTI WATTS: I have never taken it. Is that a supplement? PAT ROBERTSON: Yeah, it's a supplement. It's another natural thing, but it cuts cholesterol like crazy, so it's really good. Lecithin. You can get it in a health food store. L-E-C-I-T-H-I-N. Doesn't taste too good, but there's some things that don't taste too good, but they're good for your health. But I tell you what. You can cut your cholesterol down in a heartbeat if you use these things simply, and you're not damaging your kidneys, your liver, running the risk of diabetes. But, oh man, the drug companies have made a lot of money off of those statins. They have made billions and billions and billions of dollars on statin drugs. Doctors prescribe them like they're giving away candy to babies. It's unbelievable. Now they're dangerous. Lee. NEW DIET PILL? LEE WEBB: Pat, the first description diet drug in 13 years is about to be approved. It's called Qnexa. The FDA rejected it two years ago because of safety concerns, now an independent group of medical experts has voted 20 to 2 to put it on the market. But as Mark Martin reports, there are serious concerns about side effects. MARK MARTIN: Studies have shown that on average people taking Qnexa lost about 10% of their body weight in the first two years of use. Twenty-year-old Fraser Harzell says the drug helped him lose 165 pounds in just one year. Frazier Harzell (Lost Weight Taking Qnexa): I went from 390 pounds to 225 pounds. It definitely changed my life. Dr. Tim Garvey (University of Alabama at Birmingham): If approved, Qnexa would be the most potent medicine we would have on the market to treat obesity. The currently available drugs are not very effective. MARK MARTIN: Almost one third of adults and 17 percent of children in the US are obese. Joe Nadglowski (Obesity Action Coalition): We go from Weight Watchers to bariatric surgery, and that leaves probably 65 million people who need a new option to address obesity. MARK MARTIN: The panel advising the FDA says for obese people, the benefits of Qnexa, outweigh the risks. However, opponents say, don't take the risks and side effects lightly. They include increased memory loss, confusion, kidney stones, birth defects, increased heart rate and heart palpitations. The drugmaker Vivas, says it will keep Qnexa away from women who might become pregnant, because their babies would have a five times greater-than-normal risk of being born with a cleft pallet. Dr. Sidney Wolfe is among those speaking out against the diet drug. Dr. Sidney Wolfe (Opponent of Qnexa): In the studies that they've done so far, and the people who took this drug, there were five heart attacks. In the people that took the placebo, there were none. MARK MARTIN: The panel reports it is still unclear if the side effects lead to heart attacks and more serious cardiovascular problems. Joe Nadglowski: We also need to remember there's a real risk about remaining obese as well, and this population without treatment is facing significant risks. MARK MARTIN: The FDA has until April 17th to rule. Mark Martin, CBN News. LEE WEBB: The debate over this drug, though, has brought back the controversy over whether people are just looking for a quick fix with a diet pill, or if they should just stick with good nutrition and exercise. Pat. What say you? PAT ROBERTSON: Do you remember Fen-Phen? It was a miracle thing. And now they’re getting lawsuits by the hundreds of people who have been damaged by Fen-Phen. Terrible. KRISTI WATTS: Yeah. I just don't think there is an easy solution. I really don't, as much as we all want that simple pill. PAT ROBERTSON: High fructose corn syrup, when that was introduced into the food supply of the Federal Drug Administration, that has caused the obesity epidemic. High fructose corn syrup, it's into everything; and it has a chemical that screws up your body metabolism, and we've had this impasse epidemic of obesity ever since. High fructose corn syrup, and you don't want some funny pill to do it. We ought to, if nothing else, look at the labels. Look at the labels on the foods you eat. Go for natural vegetables, and low glycemic. That company that puts out the low glycemic, that's the answer. But my goodness, to take some exotic pill that might screw up your whole body in order to lose weight, no way. High fructose corn syrup! Look for it! Look at every label. Look at every label. They’ve got all kinds of ways of disguising it, but look at the labels on the foods you're eating. Kristi. KRISTI WATTS: Alright Pat. Well coming up, Victoria Secret’s model takes on Cosmopolitan magazine. Former Victoria Secret’s Model: Central core of the magazine is all about pushing sex from a young age to girls, but pushing it in a very graphic manner. It’s saying, girls, give it up right away to a “hookup,” that's the term they always use. Hear more about this model's campaign against Cosmo and how you can get involved after this. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LEE WEBB: Got a question for Pat? LEE WEBB: On The 700 Club. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * PAT ROBERTSON: And now, young lady, have you ever read Cosmopolitan magazine? KRISTI WATTS: Not really. That was never really my style of magazine. PAT ROBERTSON: I didn't ask if it was your style, but did you ever read it? KRISTI WATTS: I'm sure I have. I'm sure. Yeah, I'm sure I have. PAT ROBERTSON: Well, it's supposed to be the hot magazine for young teenage girls. KRISTI WATTS: Which is kind of sad, because when I was little, Seventeen magazine was the magazine for teenagers. PAT ROBERTSON: All right. I was in a speaking engagement in New York, and I happened to be sitting next to the editor of this fashionable magazine. I don't know if she’s dead. I don't know if she's still editing the thing. I don't know anything. But this girl was skinny. Her face was pockmarked with acne. She was, in my humble opinion who likes beauty, she was repulsive. And she was putting out a magazine to tell young teenagers how to behave and how to dress, and how to do this, and she was the sex cosmo. And you just think, behind the scenes . . . . KRISTI WATTS: Well, that’s the whole thing, Pat. They're not selling reality. They're selling an illusion, and I think that's the one thing that girls need to realize is that, you know, those women on there, they’re photo shopped. They've got fake everything, but young girls and women don't realize . . . . PAT ROBERTSON: If they ever saw the person who is responsible for this publication. Now that’s years ago. I mean, that’s many years ago. So I don't know who's running it now, or what the deal is. So I'm speaking from the past. So please don't sue me in the present. But I’m just telling you the way it was. But the reality would shock you. Well, Nicole Weider was a rising star in the modeling world. She posed for Victoria's Secret and magazines like Esquire, and I believe Cosmopolitan as well. But she said no more. And now this model is on a crusade to ensure Cosmopolitan magazine is sold in plastic bags, and only to people over 18. Wow! Wendy Griffith has her amazing story. FOCUS: MODEL PROMOTES GOOD VALUES WENDY GRIFFITH: Nicole Wieder left Oregon at 15 to try and make it big in Hollywood. She became a successful model, landing jobs with Victoria's Secret, and meeting supermodels like Gizelle Bundchen. In her quest for fame and fortune, she models sexy lingerie, and made the covers of racy magazines like Maxim, and Esquire. That kind of modeling left her feeling used and empty. Nicole Wieder (Project Inspired): I just felt so degraded. I mean, here the photographer was like, you know, bend down and go lower, and stick your chest out or do this, or suck in stomach, and I just felt really bad about myself. WENDY GRIFFITH: By age 23, Nicole fell into a deep depression. A Christian friend urged her to reach out to Jesus for help. Nicole Wieder: I just said, “God, show me that there's a better way,” and accepted the Lord, and my mind was renewed through God. And I just realized my mind was almost like, clear. I knew that I was put on this earth for a bigger purpose. WENDY GRIFFITH: Part of that purpose is to shine a light on the dark side of fashion. That includes taking on Cosmopolitan and it's highly sexual content. Nicole feels the magazine targets teens by putting young actresses like 18-year-old Dakota Fanning and Disney favorite 19-year-old Selena Gomez on the cover. Nicole Wieder: It is so damaging, because it's so explicit. The sexual tips in there or just some pornographic, and it’s so harmful to girls; because you have girls as young as 13 or 14 that are buying the magazine. WENDY GRIFFITH: Your taking on Cosmo single-handedly pretty much, and the FTC. This pretty much sounds like David and Goliath. Nicole Wieder: When I started this, I had no idea what I was up against. I was in for a huge mountain. Unfortunately, the magazine has, still to this day, not yet responded to me. WENDY GRIFFITH: But the public has responded. So far, it more than 24,000 people have signed her petition on Change.org. It states that Cosmo is filled with adult content, so it needs to be sold in a plastic bag to people over 18. Her petition caught the attention of the FTC which is now reviewing the magazine's content. Nicole Wieder: The power is in numbers, and in Portland we have God behind us, so I know it's going to happen. WENDY GRIFFITH: But most people say, oh it's just Cosmo. They're a little over the top. But you're saying that's not the case. Nicole Wieder: No. Not at all. People think it's just a fun women's fashion magazine, but the magazine, the central core of the magazine is all about pushing sex from a young age to girls, but pushing it in a very graphic manner. It's not just saying, “Oh, have sex with your spouse.” It’s saying, “Girls, give it up right away to a ‘hookup,’ that's the term they always use. WENDY GRIFFITH: Studies show that over-sexualization of girls is detrimental to their psychological growth. That's why Nicole reaches out to young women on her website called “Project Inspired.” Her blogs point out what it means to have a healthy self-image, not a perfect one like in magazines. Nicole Wieder: I want to tell girls that they’re so beautiful and perfect the way God made them, and they're a masterpiece; and so there's a lot of articles that talk about their self-worth through God and how they’re put on earth for a purpose. WENDY GRIFFITH: Nicole also reveals that most of the models you see in magazines are photo-shopped. On her website Nicole even shows how she was photo-shopped, revealing the before and after photos. Nicole Wieder: I saw the top model, Gizelle Bundchen, being recharged in real time on the computer. He was making her nose thinner. He was making her hair, like, have more volume. He made her thighs skinnier, so even the models themselves are not skinny enough or perfect enough. WENDY GRIFFITH: Nicole, you're still doing some modeling and commercials, but there's certain types of modeling that you won't do anymore. Nicole Wieder: Yeah, I will not do any lingerie work. That is the number-one thing I will not do. I won't do any swimwear ads. WENDY GRIFFITH: That cuts out a lot of jobs right there, lingerie and swimsuits. Nicole Wieder: Yeah, it really does, but I'm a married woman. I mean, my body is for my husband. I don't want to parade my body around to just anyone. WENDY GRIFFITH: While Nicole still enjoys modeling, she's most passionate about being a role model for young women. She gets about 90,000 hits a month on her website where she also enjoys sharing the Word of God. Nicole Wieder: And in Proverbs He says, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.” WENDY GRIFFITH: Nicole hopes to inspire young women to have a balance, enjoy fashion, but never lose sight of the fact that they are a beautiful, one-of-a-kind creation, and that true fulfillment only comes when you live your life for Jesus Christ. Wendy Griffith, CBN News. PAT ROBERTSON: That is so wonderful. You know, the devil is such a seducer. He's a liar. You know, you see some of these movies that have had that, and then you have this gorgeous woman seducing this man, and suddenly she turns into a serpent. But that's the way it is. I mean, behind this glamour is a hideous serpent who's trying to destroy people. Good for her. If you'd like to sign Nicole Wieder’s anti-Cosmo petition, just go to CBNNews.com. Good for you, Nicole. KRISTI WATTS: That is very courageous, great story. Well, up next, a college student who developed a strange rash on her face. College student: I thought I looked disgusting. The rash would itch, and then weep, and then try out, and be really scabby; and I just thought like, “You look like a burn victim.” KRISTI WATTS: Lets see how she was healed without medical help. Plus, we are going to be praying for you and all of your needs after this. So whatever you do, don't go away. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * SPOT 2A: SWISS AMERICA Pat Boone (Entertainer): Hi there, neighbor. She was hoping it would just clear up on its own; but, after a few months, it got worse. Then one day she received a supernatural cure. CHRISTINE HANNAH Christine Hannah: My sophomore year in college, I noticed that my skin was very itchy, and it had spots that were raising, very small spots, and those again to connect with other spots and become huge patches. I didn't have anything to help with the symptoms which was severe itching. I thought I looked disgusting. The rash would itch, and then weep, and then dry up and be really scabby, and I just thought like, “You look like a burn victim.” Evelyn Hannah (Christine’s Mother): When I saw that that have been going on for more than a few months, I was very concerned that this is not only not looking good; but it's going to cause her to not feel good about herself. Christine Hannah: I couldn't go to a dermatologist at that time, because I was a full-time college student. I was working but did not have insurance, and then I was still too old to my parents’ health insurance. Evelyn Hannah: I'm thinking let's see what God does, because I've seen God do many miracles in my own life, and with my children and my husband. So I know that He can do it. Christine Hannah: I was a very regular viewer of The 700 Club. PAT ROBERTSON: You may be African-American, and you've got this dapple looking skin. Christine Hannah: He prayed for a few things; and then when he said that, I looked up at the screen for a moment, and I said, “Oh, that can be anybody.” PAT ROBERTSON God, right now, is just wiping his hand across your face and your body, and your skin is absolutely whole in Jesus’ name. Christine Hannah: After Pat prayed and gave that word of knowledge, the rashes that I already had occurring, those healed up and went away, and there were no new rashes. I had no symptoms at all for over a year, and now it’s been almost six, seven years. Evelyn Hannah: Her dad and I are very thankful what God has done in her life as far as that, even though it may be small to some people. Christine Hannah: I am very thankful for God healing me. There is nothing too hard for God or too small to ask Him of, no matter how small it is. He is concerned about everything that we’re concerned about and that bothers us, even our skin. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * HOSTS PRAY FOR NEEDS KRISTI WATTS: You know what I love is that no matter how big or no matter how small the request is, God hears you. He hears you because He loves you, and that’s a perfect example of how Pat didn’t know that woman. PAT ROBERTSON: No way! KRISTI WATTS: She had no clue, but God knows her and then He speaks to Pat and then what happens? Miracles happen. PAT ROBERTSON: It’s amazing. Folks, it’s a miracle. It’s God. This is the way God works, and it’s so natural. It’s just kind of like the flow of the wind through the trees on a lovely day. That’s all it is. It’s just the flow of God, and He’s speaking to all of us. Okay, we’ve got some other testimonies. KRISTI WATTS: Oh, yeah, let’s encourage folks. We have Cheri from California. She fell and injured her left hand and wrist. The doctor wrapped her wrist with gauze and put a brace on it. Cheri wore the brace for over three weeks but had no relief from the pain and swelling. Then, one day she was watching The 700 Club. Pat, you gave a word of knowledge. In fact, you said this, “There’s a bone in your wrist that you might not even know is broken. You’ve had it wrapped up in something. Just put your hand on that wrist, and the bone is knitting together, even as I speak.” Cheri said, “That’s me, that’s me!” When she removed the brace the next day, the swelling was gone, and since then,” guess what? “Cheri’s had no more pain or problems in her wrist.” PAT ROBERTSON: She didn’t know the bone was there. I didn’t know about Cheri. I didn’t know about Cheri’s bone. KRISTI WATTS: But God did. PAT ROBERTSON: God did! KRISTI WATTS: He knows everything. PAT ROBERTSON: All right, here’s something else. KRISTI WATTS: Okay. PAT ROBERTSON: This is from Tacoma, Washington. Marcella developed a knot on the back of her neck. At times it hurt so much, she couldn’t even turn her head. Although she took prescription pain pills and muscle relaxers, she continued to ache for more than a year. KRISTI WATTS: God bless her. PAT ROBERTSON: From last September, she heard Kristi give this word of knowledge. “You’ve got a lump on the back of your neck. The Lord is healing you right now. In fact, as you take your hand and put it on the lump, the Lord’s healing power will start to decrease it until it is gone.” She placed her hand on the lump. Within minutes . . . .” KRISTI WATTS: Come on. PAT ROBERTSON: . . . . the knot was gone!” KRISTI WATTS: God is a good God, Pat. When? All the time. PAT ROBERTSON: All the time. God is good all the time. KRISTI WATTS: He is. PAT ROBERTSON: Now listen, folks. You say, “Well these are special people.” Look, you’re special. We’re all special. We’re all children of God. We’re all created in the image of God. God loves us. If you just recognize that God loves you, and He wants blessings for you. He’s not up there saying, “Well, I’m going to throw thunder bolts down and curse people.” He’s not up there saying, “Well, they’re not holy enough for me. I’ve got to wait until they agonized some more.” He’s just like the flow of God, the flow of God. Let the flow of God come into your heart and life right now. Now, Kristi and I are going to join hands, and we’re going to pray for you. What is your problem? What is your need? What would you like? Oh, God, you’re so good. You’re so good. We don’t deserve your blessing, Lord. We don’t deserve your wonder, and yet you give it to us, because you are God. Thank you, Jesus. There’s somebody who has a neck muscle. It’s almost popped out here, the muscle. Put your hand on it, and it’ll go down immediately. The pain will leave in Jesus’ Holy name. KRISTI WATTS: The Lord, there’s a woman, you’re praying for your child who has a urinary tract infection. The Lord is healing that right now. There’s another person, you have a slipped disk, and the Lord is realigning your spine, and He’s healing that. In fact, it’s been excruciating to you. Every time you kind of move a certain way, pain, incredible pain, shoots up. The Lord is healing that right now in the mighty name of Jesus. PAT ROBERTSON: I may be missing God, but there’s somebody that has something in the cavity of your mouth. It’s like you had cancer, and they’ve operated and cut all sorts of things out, and you don’t have the things that you should have in your mouth; and God, right now, is going to do a creative miracle and restore in your mouth and up in your roof of your mouth that which has been taken away, in the name of Jesus. Thank you, Lord. KRISTI WATTS: Thank you, Jesus. There’s someone with, you didn’t cut your eye, you cut the side of your eye, but it was so close. Well, the Lord is healing that area right now, because it’s actually impaired a little bit of your vision. The Lord’s healing that right now. Thank you, Jesus. PAT ROBERTSON: God’s taking away fear from people right now. Perfect love casts out fear, for fear has torment. The fear will go in the name of Jesus. Perfect love. Amen. KRISTI WATTS: Amen. PAT ROBERTSON: God bless all of you. GRAPHIC: 1-800-759-0700 CBN.COM PAT ROBERTSON: Thank you from—oh, man! If you need further prayer, you can pick up the phone and call in. Tell us what God’s done for you, but begin to praise God for what He’s already done. Kristi. KRISTI WATTS: Love it, love it, love it, love it, love it. Well, still ahead, a widow who faced financial disaster . . . . Ovajean Siemens: After Abe passed on, I was talking to a financial advisor, and he told me, “Well, technically, you could declare bankruptcy if you wanted to.” I didn’t want to. I want to know. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * SPOT 3A: PALERMO Samme Palermo: I finally got to the spot where there wasn't enough cocaine, and there wasn't enough alcohol. Samme Palermo: “Come on God, give me the buzz.” I was joking around. I was daring God. They finished praying and Ben says, “The guy we were praying for didn't get the buzz he was praying for.” My heart stopped. He spoke to me that night, and He said, "When you're serious, scream out the name of Jesus, and He'll save you.” And I remembered what Ben said, and I screamed out “Jesus, Jesus help me. Save me.” The very second I did that—If you don't believe in miracles, then don't believe in me; because I am one . . . . GRAPHIC: We’re here to Pray for you. MANDATE TESTIMONY LEE WEBB: Two prominent women from two different faiths spoke out against the President’s birth control mandate in a House Judiciary Committee hearing. Asma Uddin is a Muslim and an attorney with the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. She says men and women “seek the freedom to live in accordance with their sincerely held religious beliefs.” And Jeanne Monahan of the Family Research Council urged Congress to block the mandate. Democrats, though, argue all women should have access to free contraceptives. ULTRASOUND BILL LEE WEBB: The Virginia State Senate has passed bill mandating women have ultrasounds before having an abortion. That bill grabbed national headlines, because it required women having early-term abortions to have internal ultrasounds. Republican Governor Bob McDonnell, though, requested that the bill be amended to include only external ultrasounds, and he says he will now sign that bill. Ovajean Siemens was a widow with several hundred thousand dollars in debt. A financial advisor suggested that Ovajean might declare bankruptcy, but Ovajean did something else instead. Watch. OVAJEAN SIEMENS TIM BRANSON: When Ovajean Siemans’ husband, Abe, died, she was left alone to figure out their finances. Ovajean Siemens: We had a couple of house mortgages. We borrowed money on one thing to do something else. TIM BRANSON: The couple owed several hundred thousand dollars on their mortgages, in part, because she believes God told them to buy an abandoned factory years before. Ovajean Siemens: I just knew somehow that God was going to take that property and do something with it. TIM BRANSON: But after her husband’s death, all she could think about was the debt. Ovajean Siemens: There was actually a time after Abe passed on that I was talking to a financial advisor, and he told me, “Well, technically, you could declare bankruptcy if you wanted to.” I didn’t want to. TIM BRANSON: Instead, Ovajean counted on God to provide for her. She and Dave had tithed faithfully for years. Ovajean Siemens: Abe and I always tithed, and we also gave. He was a great giver. He loved to give. TIM BRANSON: One of the ways they gave was through their partnership with the 700 Club. Ovajean Siemens: I thoroughly enjoy hearing the news on 700 Club; stuff you’ll not hear anywhere else, and so we gave above tithes, of course, and to the 700 Club. TIM BRANSON: And now, in her time of need, she believed God would come through. Ovajean Siemens: Lord, you said you would meet all my needs according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. And, so, you said that; you’ve gotta do that. TIM BRANSON: Then she remembered receiving an e-mail some time before from a company showing interest in buying their factory. She contacted them and, over the course of several months, they worked out a deal. The couple had bought the property for $125,000. She sold it for 1.4 million. Ovajean Siemens: I am so thrilled that the Lord provided, so I was able to pay off all debt, all debt, and tithe and have so much fun doing that and even share it with family. So, it was a good thing. It feels so much better to be out of debt. TIM BRANSON: Ovajean believes God’s hand is in it all. Ovajean Siemens: He’s faithful. He’s not going to fail you. Other people might, and you might even fail yourself, but He won’t fail you. You just hang in there with God. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * PAT ROBERTSON: It’s all His. GRAPHIC: 1-800-759-0700 CBN.com The Bible says, “The gold is Mine, the silver is Mine, the cattle on a thousand hills, it’s all Mine. My hand has made it all.” God owns it all. He’s got the oil, He’s got the gold, He’s got the silver, it’s all God’s. He also has all the people you need to contact to buy your property or to do whatever’s needed. God can bring it all together, and all you need to do is trust Him. If everything is going right, God will bring a blessing. Ovajean found that blessing. How did she? She was a faithful giver. Give and it’ll be given unto you pressed down, good measure, running over will men heap into your bosom. So, the blessing got heaped into her bosom and good things happened. Now, if you want to get into a flow of blessing and help us bless other people around the world, I want you to join the 700 Club. It’s so simple. You just start out. Ovajean started with the 700 Club. I don’t know where she finally wound up, but she was $20 a month; that’s 65 cents a day, and we’ll send you something Gordon did called The Quest for God. GRAPHIC: WHEN YOU JOIN THE 700 CLUB 1-800-759-0700 CBN.COM He wrote about some of these other religions. What do people think when they’re trying to find God? All around the world, people want to find God, but many are looking in the wrong places and they’re doing the wrong things. But this will enlighten you. You’ll find it very interesting. We’ll give it to you when you join the 700 Club, so pick up the phone and call in. Say, “You can count on me,” Twenty dollars a month, 65 cents a day. Kristi. KRISTI WATTS: Pat, got a question for you. Do you still work out? PAT ROBERTSON: Not as intensely as I once did, but the answer is yes, I work out. KRISTI WATTS: Me, too. I worked out just last night, in fact. In fact, once you see the world’s oldest female body builder, you’ll realize it’s possible to be fit at any age, and you’re never too old to start. Her name is Ernestine Shepherd, and she was 56 when she began working out and, hey, check her out now. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ERNESTINE SHEPHERD MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: The face of this bodybuilding sensation has graced the pages of the Guinness Book of World Records. At 75, Ernestine Shepherd has earned a place in history as the world’s oldest female bodybuilder. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: Now that you’ve reached your goal, how do you feel? Ernestine Shepherd: It feels great. I’m so proud of being in the Guinness Book of World Records. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: Look at these biceps! How much do you bench press? Ernestine Shepherd: I can bench press 150 pounds. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: Ernestine, or “Ernie” as she likes to be called, didn’t even step foot into the gym until she was 56. Now, 20 years later, the bodybuilding champ is in the best shape of her life. Ernestine Shepherd: Age is nothing but a number. You can get fit at any age. I feel so much better now in my 70s than I did in my 40s. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: In 2008 she entered her first bodybuilding competition and took home a winning trophy. She maintains her sculpted physique with the help of her trainer Yohnnie Shambourger, a former Mister Universe. And she does it without steroids or any other medication. Ernestine Shepherd: You can be a bodybuilder. You do not have to take a lot of supplements. You can do it naturally, and you can look good. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: But Ernie, who’s also a model, wants more than just a chiseled body and six-pack abs. Ernestine Shepherd: The mission that I’m on—and I call it a “mission”—is to help and to try to inspire and motivate people on the importance of being fit. God has placed that in my heart to do this work. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: Ernie doubles as a personal trainer and fitness instructor at Energy Fitness Center in Randallstown, Maryland. And she holds weekly classes at her church in nearby Baltimore. Wherever she goes, she inspires people of all ages to live healthier lives without limits. Esther Holimon (Ernie’s Pastor, Union Memorial UMC): She looks great. And all of us, I don’t know any woman who doesn’t want to look good in their clothes and feel great, and she is a perfect example of that. Alexis Skelton (Fitness Student): It’s like crazy, the fact that she’s, not to be mean, but like older, and she’s like still weight training, and she has a really good body. And it’s wow! MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: After Avon Carroll hired Ernie to be his trainer, he lost 40 pounds. Avon Carroll (Trains with Ernie): When you see somebody that can outrun you, that can do more reps than you, that has that much energy, you realize it’s not too late. Ernestine Shepherd: I always say you need to be determined, dedicated, disciplined to be fit. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: For Ernie, health and fitness begins with her relationship with Jesus Christ. Ernestine Shepherd: Each morning I awaken at 3:00. Before I do anything, I have my morning devotions, because I have to thank God for what He’s done for me. Prayer is so important. All the exercising in the world is not going to help if you don’t pray about it. And God is so good. And I can say that I truly, truly love the Lord. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: After prayer, Ernie hits the pavement at four a.m. for her daily ten-mile run. And she loves running marathons. Ernestine Shepherd: It’s fun for me. I want to see how far and how long I can keep up the running. If I had it in my mind that it was work, I really wouldn’t want to do it. MIA EVANS-SARACUAL: At home, Ernie sticks to a strict high-protein diet, which includes three glasses of raw egg whites a day. Collins, her husband of 53 years, helps prepare her special meals. Collins Shepherd: My wife is truly amazing. She’s quite an inspiration to me, and she is one of a kind. Ernestine Shepherd: As long as I am healthy, I will continue doing this. I really want to help as many people as I can to let them know don’t let life pass you by. You can be fit. And then, also, to let them know that God loves them, too. What He has done for me, He will do for them, too. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BRING IT ONLINE KRISTI WATTS: All right, let me pick my jaw up off the floor. PAT ROBERTSON: Okay, kiddo. There’s your example. KRISTI WATTS: She is bad, as in good. Seventy-five years old! PAT ROBERTSON: Did you see those lat muscles? KRISTI WATTS: I saw her abs. I saw her back. She is phenomenal. You know what she said that inspired me? It’s never too late. I think that’s the thing we’ve got to realize in life, Pat. PAT ROBERTSON: Go. KRISTI WATTS: It’s never too late. Why are you looking at me saying, “Go.” What do you want me to go out and run? PAT ROBERTSON: I want you to get like her. KRISTI WATTS: How do you know I’m not like that right now? All right, don’t say anything. All I’m saying is this. It’s never too late. PAT ROBERTSON: None of us are like her. None of us are like that. KRISTI WATTS: It’s never too late. PAT ROBERTSON: All right, I’m at 82. I’m getting ready to be 82 next week, next month, whatever it is. KRISTI WATTS: Maybe you should call Ernestine and say, “Ernestine, can you train me?” PAT ROBERTSON: Oh, she’ll work me too hard. All right, okay. KRISTI WATTS: Man, what a great, fantastic story! Okay, so let’s have some fun with the chat room. You ready? PAT ROBERTSON: All right. KRISTI WATTS: Heather asks, “In the last couple of years, many of my friends and family have passed away, and now I sometimes feel like I’m being watched when I’m alone. Do dead friends and family watch us after they die? PAT ROBERTSON: No, they don’t. Angels are there watching. God watches. The Holy Spirit watches. The Bible says we have a cloud of witnesses, but I don’t think they’re watching us. They’re witnesses to the faithfulness of God. These are people who have passed on, and they’re a cloud of witnesses. We’re surrounded by a cloud of witnesses, but they’re not watching us. It wouldn’t be right of God let all His dead people peek in on what you’re doing. KRISTI WATTS: Listen; I think when I go off to Heaven, and I’m hanging with Jesus and Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, I’m not going to be looking down on the earth. I’m going to be hanging, having a great time asking them questions, eating that wonderful food that’s in Heaven that doesn’t put pounds on our hips. That’s what I think. PAT ROBERTSON: So, you’re going to be with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They’re your friends. KRISTI WATTS: Why not? PAT ROBERTSON: All right. KRISTI WATTS: Moses, too. PAT ROBERTSON: Yeah, I’d like to hang out with Abraham. Okay, all right, what’s next? KRISTI WATTS: Katherine asks, “I’m 15.” Oh, this is sad. She says, “I’m depressed and I feel empty inside. I used to be close with God, but I’ve wandered away, and I don’t know how to get back close to Him. How can I rekindle a relationship with God?” Oh, that’s a good one. PAT ROBERTSON: Katherine, I recommend two or three days of fasting and prayer, and I recommend something that you get before the Lord, and you say, “Lord, let’s talk about the things that I’ve been doing that are wrong. I’m cold. I’m dead and I ask your forgiveness. Now, tell me what I’ve done wrong.” So, take a piece of paper and a pen or a pencil or write down, one after the other. When you write it down you say, “God, I ask you to forgive me of this. I ask you to cleanse me of that,” and you write it down. Put it all down, and then you take that paper before the Lord and say, “Lord, forgive me of these things. I ask you to cleanse me from this.” Then, take that piece of paper and set a match to it and say, “It’s gone. I’m free,” and then you begin to praise God and receive, and there’ll come a liberation in your heart. You’ll feel free in your spirit, but that deadness is there. It’s a real thing. There’s no question it happens, and it happens because little by little by little, little sins come in, little indifference. You don’t read the Bible. You don’t pray. You don’t talk about the Lord. You don’t think about the Lord. You have little carnal things that come in, little, little, little; and before long it builds up, and there’s a crust around you, okay? All right, next. KRISTI WATTS: Okay, Amanda asks, “I have lied to friends about my real name and many other things. Eventually I came clean, and most of my friends forgave me. But my closest friend, she now says I’m dead to her. What can I do? My heart is breaking, because I hurt her, and I want to make it right, but she won’t listen.” PAT ROBERTSON: Well, you can’t force somebody to listen if you’ve done what’s right. It’s a shame people live lies. They lie about their age. They lie about their education. They lie about this, that and the other, because they want to look good. Then before long, they realize that they want to get close to somebody, and all that stuff is there. So, you’ve tried to clean out the stuff, and it hasn’t worked. Well, see what happens. If she won’t forgive you, there’s something wrong; because if God will forgive her, she’s got to forgive you. So, we’ve done some awful things to God, and He’s forgiven us. So I don’t know what to say except that you just live your life, and you love her, and you let her know, “I love you. You’re my close friend, and I’ve wounded you, and I’m sorry; and I hope you’ll forgive me,” and if she won’t do it, there’s nothing else you can do. KRISTI WATTS: Yeah, I just think the biggest thing is we’ve got to realize that when you lie to a person, that severs the trust. I think the greatest example it just always to be candid and to walk in a place of honesty and integrity. PAT ROBERTSON: But the world is full of lying. I mean we lie in business. We lie in relationships. We lie, lie, lie. Women are always lying about their age. It just goes on and on. So, we just have to recognize that we live in a world that way, and we have to be forgiving and understanding. Okay. KRISTI WATTS: Okay, Don asks, “I heard that Jesus spent three days in Hell after being crucified and that He ministered to souls there. Is this in the Bible anywhere?” PAT ROBERTSON: Yeah, Peter talks about that He went down and ministered to the souls that were in captivity. So the answer is, yes. Read Peter. KRISTI WATTS: Okay, do we have time for one more? We’re going to try. Ryan asks, “I haven’t been in a church in awhile, but I want to return. Does it matter which denomination I choose and how can I know which one is right for me?” PAT ROBERTSON: Please go to somebody where they believe the Bible, where they’re free in the Holy Spirit, where they believe in the power of God and don’t just go to some dead church. As D.L. Moody said, “You don’t set live chicks under a dead hen.” So, find out somebody where it’s alive and praising the Lord, and in your spirit you can tell that. Well, tomorrow my dear friend Jack Hayford will be with us, and today we leave you with these words from Proverbs 31 . . . .
