11-year-old Brian watches his 2 younger sisters every day while his mom goes to work in Cabañas, Ilobasco, El Salvador. Brian had to drop out of school to take on the role of baby sitter since his mother was afraid to take the younger children with her when she went to sell in the market.
“It was a hot morning and we’d been out trimming our azaleas, but it had started raining and it was starting to get dark,” says Jerry as he recalls the morning of April 29, 2010. The Florida panhandle was under a tornado watch when Jerry and his wife Carol cut their yard work short.
