5k For a Christmas Cause
CBN’s Christmas Village kicked off it’s Miliatry Appreciation dDay with a 5k run sponsored by CBN’s Helping the Home Front. Walt Gonzoles and Emily Nissen with Peake Endurance directed the event designed to collect toys for military children spending the holidays in the hospital. Over 100 racers and volunteers came out to support military appreciation day on CBN’s campus! Winner Brian Anderson says collecting toys was an awesome idea.
Brian says, “That’s a great opportunity to help the kids and provide a great service to the community.”
Jerri Clay was the first female to cross the finish line. She explains why she came out to support Peake Enduance and CBN.
Jerri says, “Just to give back to the community. They help out in the Hampton Roads area for our large military presence.”
Then, Helping the Home Front headed to Portsmouth Navy Medical Center to bring holiday cheer to children, passing out toys collected at the 5k and Superbook boxes—all made possible by CBN partners.
Dory Nissen says, “we couldn’t do this without our cbn partners, hhf wouldn exist without our partners. So we’re just glad that we are here today to bring these presents and superbook boxes for these children who will be in the hospital over the holidays. What a great way to bring them some christmas cheer.”
