New Well Brings Safe Water to Suffering Village

Since her husband died five years ago, Venka has supported her children by working as a maid at their school.  She worries about getting fired, because some days she gets to work late.

Venka said, “I have to spend at least two or three hours every day fetching water.”

The water she struggled to get from an open pit a mile away from home wasn’t even safe for drinking or cooking.  The entire village suffered.

“We always had stomachaches, infections, and fever,” said Venka.  “I took my children to the doctor all the time.  Sometimes I spent my entire salary on hospitals and medicine, and didn’t have anything left to buy food.”

Then a pastor in the area contacted CBN to see if we could help.  We immediately dug a well right in the village.   Now Venka and everyone in the village have clean, safe drinking water just a few steps from their homes.

Venka said, “I am very happy because the bore well is right in front of our house.  Now I’m on time for work every day.  We are all so grateful to CBN for giving us the well.  Thank you.”
