Family Finds Hope after Devastating Earthquake

When an earthquake struck Mexico, Margarita, her autistic daughter and her two grandchildren barely escaped their home alive.

Margarita explained, “As we ran towards the door, the roof tiles started to fall and I heard the walls collapsing.  That’s when my daughter and I got hurt.”

Their physical injuries healed, but their home was destroyed.

“It is very hard, very sad, because you are left without a place to live, you are left outdoors.  It’s awful,” said Margarita with tears.

A week later, some relatives made them a makeshift shelter with sheets and tin panels.   Margarita and her family lived there for a month.  Then, CBN arrived in their area with disaster relief supplies.  That’s when we heard about margarita and quickly built her a new home.

Dorian, a CBN disaster relief volunteer, said, “It’s great seeing how happy people are when we help them.  It makes you feel so good to do something for your neighbor.”

In just a few days, the place that held memories of heartache and suffering was transformed into a place of hope.

Margarita’s young grandson, Axl, said, “This is my home, where I can happily live with my grandma.”

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, Margarita said, “The fear is in the past.  I thank God for giving us this house, and I thank all of the people who helped us.”

Please give to CBN's Diaster Relief Fund to help others like Margarita.
