The Founders Inn Grand Illumination 2017
Christmas time is here! And it’s time for one of Virginia Beach’s favorite traditions - the Grand Illumination at Founders Inn.
A father, attending with his family, says, “We’re celebrating the Illumination,” to which his young daughter adds, “Of Jesus’s birthday!”
There was music from local youth choirs, aerial performers, cultural dances, plus jugglers, stilt-walkers, and puppeteers. For the kids, there was face-painting, balloon animals, and even a visit from Santa! Many took in the sights from a ride in a horse-drawn carriage.
Under the four-story Christmas tree, Pat Robertson read the story of Jesus’s birth. Pat reminds the listeners, “One baby...one little baby was the way God changed the course of the world. One little baby.”
And then, children young and old gathered outside for the big moment. Pat announces, “We’re here now for the Grand Illumination! Three...two...one...lift off!” as he flips the switch. With 100,000 dazzling lights, the Founders Inn is a true Christmas wonderland!
