“I saw the river coming towards us—right through the house.”

The flooding in Denham Springs was unexpected, widespread, and devastating to the families hit hardest.

“When I got up I seen it coming towards us fast,” said Jaqueline Brown of Denham Springs.  “The river was running through our house.”

“We didn’t know the flood was coming until it was almost in the back yard,” said Timmy Guirdy, another Denham Springs resident.  “It came up on us pretty quick.”

“That’s the whole inside of my house,” said Brown, pointing to a pile of debris.  “Everything was ruined.”

Operation Blessing was quick to send in food and supplies, and set up a mobile command center where people could get hot meals and sign up for volunteer help.

“This weekend, our volunteers have been inside the homes working side by side with these precious residents,” said Jody Gettys of OB.

“I’m so thankful and blessed that ya’ll did come,” said Brown.

“Home by home, family by family, hope is being restored,” commented Gettys.

And in some cases, God is using Operation Blessing for much more.

“Operation Blessing came by today. Not only did they fix my house, one of the volunteers laid hands on me and took all the pain away today.” said resident Guirdy.  “I’ve accepted God today. I’ve accepted Jesus today.  This morning I woke up, I was an atheist; today, I believe in Jesus.”

Operation Blessing is standing with the people of Louisiana in their darkest hour.

“I just want to thank Operation Blessing,” said Guirdy with a warm smile.  “…for the work they did today and for praying for me…cause I feel 100% better. I just wanna thank ya’ll.”
