Operation Blessing Still Hard at Work After Hurricanes

“It’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”

The aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma left thousands of people destitute.

“Every memory is gone,” said one young girl.

Another Houston resident said, “It’s just awful! Just breaks my heart.”

Operation Blessing was in place before either storm came ashore, prepared to bring supplies of water, food, clothing and the love of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Lashond Lambert, Abundant Life Christian Church said, “We’re here in Houston where many people are flooded out of their homes, people from my church, and we’re loving people here.  Thank God Operation Blessing is here.”

Near Port Arthur, Texas, Sandy Janice’s 87 year old mother has lived in this house for 50 years.

“How do you tell her that she can’t come home?”

Sandy was overwhelmed trying to help her mom, who has dementia. Operation Blessing reached out to Sandy within a couple days of Hurricane Harvey’s wake and brought a team of volunteers to help with the clean up.

“You could feel the concern and support.  They wanted nothing to do except help.  My mom, I’ll tell her about Operation Blessing, within 5 minutes she doesn’t remember, but in that 5 minutes and she’ll know how much they helped.   And we appreciate that help.”
