Alone and Looking For A Healthy Home

Fearing for her safety from an abusive ex-husband, Muay fled from her homeland of Myanmar.  Her father, who lives in Thailand, had invited her to stay with him at the auto-body shop where he worked.

Muay found a new job, and worked for a few weeks until she discovered she was pregnant by her ex-husband. The first trimester was especially hard on Muay.

“I had to quit my new job because the shop owner said I could not sit down even for a minute.   My dad said he would help us,” Muay told CBN.

After the baby was born, they all began to worry about the chemicals and smells  at the body shop.

“We often felt dizzy from the fumes,” recalled Muay. “I wished we could have rented a place away from the shop.

So Muay moved with her daughter and baby son into a Christian home for single mothers supported by CBN’s Orphan’s Promise.  It proved to be a safe and healthy environment to live in. Muay’s daughter Mei liked it for other reasons!

“They gave me milk and snacks every day,” said Mei. “And I had lots of friends!”

We also trained Muay to sew.  At the end of the training, Orphan’s Promise gave her everything needed to start her own shop in the community. Every week, Muay receives orders for bags, napkins, aprons and other items. Sometimes the orders are so large she’s has to hire friends from the home to help her out!

One day on a trip to Thailand, Terry Meeuwsen stopped in to visit.   Muay surprised her with a personalized apron!

Muay told Terry that she was very happy to sew something special for her and thanked Orphan’s Promise for helping her to survive her difficult circumstances.
