Leaning On Faith in a Season of Change

WALKING THROUGH GRIEF
Over the past year and a half, Anthony has faced several family tragedies including the sudden deaths of his aunt, uncle, and cousin Wynter Evans Pitts, founder of a Christian girls' magazine, who died at 38. Another heartache he has dealt with is his mother, Lois’s, cancer battle whose illness is rare and has no known cure. Anthony and his family are trusting God to do a miracle. Throughout all of these situations Anthony has learned to lean on his faith more than ever as God has walked with him through his grief.  "There's been so many different ways that God showed up, but the way that I've dealt with it is choosing hope but then also dealing with my emotions at face value," says Andrew. "I don't try to pretend anymore that I'm okay. I don't try to put on the worship leader face or do all this stuff. I don't do that. I go and deal with the real root causes and root issues of what's going on." The gospel artist also admits that therapy has helped him as well. Anthony shares, "I have made sure that I'm not saying yes to too many things as it relates to work because I don't want my ministry to take precedence over my well-being because my ministry comes out of my well-being. He also continues to nurture his relationship with the Lord and pursue hope. (The Christian Post).

ALTARED
Altared is the ninth studio album released under Anthony’s company, Sherman James Productions.  It has already hit No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel Albums Sales Chart. “Altared was birthed out of the moments when God allowed a variation in my life’s situations in an effort to drive me back to the literal Altar. He allowed this so I could see and experience Him again, but for the first time,” shares Anthony. The cd contains his new single, Hope is Alive, as well as new versions of some of the most popular worship songs in churches today, including What a Beautiful Name, Great Are You Lord, and Who You Say I Am. “I wanted to take songs people might know in one way and alter them so they hear them again…for the first time. My hope is that with this variation the listener will be drawn into the presence of God in a new way,” reveals Anthony. He is joined by Grammy Award Winning Producer Max Stark, pop producer Bert Elliott among other singers and musicians.

He recorded much of the album prior to much of the family news, but admits the healing power of the lyrics in songs like Fighting for Us are particularly healing. “God is on our journey with us daily and He’s fighting for our well-being, no matter if we hear a no, yes or maybe,” shares Anthony. “He’s literally fighting for you and with you on your journey where you are. It’s not when you get it together, it’s where you are currently. I’ve experienced growth when I realized that, no matter where I am God is with and right next to me on the journey…fighting for me daily. That started to alter the way that I viewed my relationship with the Lord. That’s what this song stated and I wanted to be the message of this album,” reveals Anthony.

Anthony will be touring with his sister, best-selling authorand actress Priscilla Shirer again for more FerVent 2.0 dates starting in September in churches located in eight different states. Anthony’s music from Altared is coupled with the teachings based on the message of Priscilla’s upcoming movie, Overcomer.

HIS MUSIC STORY
Anthony is the son of mega church pastor Tony Evans. He grew up in a loving, supportive family but struggled to find his place in life. Anthony became a Christian when he was in 2nd grade. However, it wasn’t until he went away for school at Liberty University that he really discovered God for himself and committed his life. He joined the music group, Truth, at Liberty and over time, realized that his voice was a gift. He started his musical career leading worship for churches and Christian conferences. Anthony’s musical excellence quickly led to multiple albums and him being sought after for different Christian music formats. He built a strong fan base and packed out his schedule with events. Everything was simple in his world, until he decided to audition for the reality television show The Voice. Anthony became a contestant on season 2 in 2012 and was mentored by Christina Aguilera.

Anthony didn’t make it into the later rounds but something more significant happened within him; his world was expanded. Shortly after his appearance on The Voice he received a call from a producer asking him to come back to L.A. to help record guide vocals for CeeLo Green. Anthony took the opportunity and those couple of months led to years of working with high profile artists. He was later hired by The Voice as a talent producer to help cast new singers for the show.
