A Young Widow Finds Her Way
CBN.com — Little Genril has become a comfort to his mom during a very painful time in their lives.
“Right before my son was born, my husband died of a heart attack,” explains his mother, Liteng. “My whole world collapsed. The thought of taking care of our young children on my own filled me with fear.”
Before he died, Liteng’s husband supported the family as a fisherman. Now the young widow had no income.
“We were deeply in debt,” she remembers. “We had no food. So my other son begged the neighbors for a bowl of rice. It was overwhelming.”
One day, Liteng remembered a skill she had learned as a child—making native buli hats. But Liteng lacked the capital needed to start the small business.
So CBN offered to help. For the price of a 700 Club membership –we gave Liteng everything she needed to start making and selling the traditional hats.
“I now make hats everyday and sell them at the end of the week,” says Liteng, excitedly. “I’m happy that I can now provide food for my children everyday.”
Today, Liteng’s hats are so popular that she has become the main “supplier” of buli hats to tourist shops in her town. To keep up with the demand, she’s even had to hire her neighbor to help!
Says Liteng, “I am grateful that God watched over us and sent CBN to us. You gave me hope of a better future for my children. Thank you.”
