David meets Goliath on the playground

In Manila, the Philippines, 7-year-old David made lots of new friends when he went to a day camp last summer.  He also met some bullies. 

“There were two kids that were bigger than me,” David told us.  “They punched and they kicked me.”

When David got home he told his mother what had happened to him at the day camp.

“We were sad when we heard that our son was being bullied and had to fight back,” his mother told us. 

That night, David’s mother, Ces, came across an episode of CBN’s Superbook program online.  She wanted her son to see it, she remembered watching the classic version of Superbook when she was a child.  She also downloaded the free Superbook mobile APP on her phone. 

“I like the features of the Superbook app,” she told us.  “They’re very helpful.  It has a bible, games, videos, and pictures of the characters.”

David especially likes the phone app and the audio Bible that comes with it.  He says it.  He says it helps him memorize Bible verses.  One night, David’s Mom got an e-mail from CBN’s Superbook team that thrilled her. 

“It said, ‘we have great news for you,’” she told us, reading the actual e-mail from her phone.  “’While your son was visiting the Superbook website, he dedicated his life to Jesus!’  I was overwhelmed that God spoke to my son’s heart through the Superbook App,” she told us. 

A few days later, at his day camp, David saw a little girl being bullied.  Instead of walking away, he stepped in to help her and offered some wise words to the bully.

“I told him about God,” said the brave little boy.  “Jesus loves you, so he does not want you to fight.  Whatever you do to someone, you do to God.” 

After hearing this, the boy apologized to the younger girl and walked away.  David says it was the Superbook story about David and Goliath that helped him to know what to do. 

“God gave David the power to defeat Goliath,” he said.  “Just like David in the Bible, I am not afraid of telling them they’re wrong because God is with me.”

“I am overjoyed that he understood God’s love and shared it with another child,” his mother said.  “The Superbook episode and app helped my son apply Bible lessons to his life.” 

“I am a Superbook kid,” David said with a big smile.  “I love the Word of God and I love God!”
