Feeding Five With One Egg
CBN.com —On many occasions, 35-year-old Felicita only had one egg to feed five people. Some days that was all she could afford to buy.
"I knew that one egg wouldn't satisfy my children's hunger," she tells us.
Felicita's daughter Christy agrees: "I would ask God, 'If I am your daughter, why do I suffer with this little piece of egg?'"
But the family not only had to learn to share food, the youngest daughter Nelsy had to share a pair of shoes and a bookbag during the school year.
"I asked God, Why is this happening?" says Felicita.
Then one day, she could take it no more. Felicita decided to end her life.
"Mom took a machete and went to a mountain," Christy remembers. "I followed her. I asked her, 'Mom, what are you doing?' I prayed for her and asked God to fulfill his promises. Then we went home crying together."
When CBN's Operation Blessing learned about Felicita and the girls, we gave them everything needed to start a small bakery and we taught Felicita how to manage her new small business.
The doughnuts are now famous in Felicita's neighborhood.
Six months have passed since we helped her to start that small business. And with the money she now makes, Felicita can buy food for the family, shoes for the girls and even save a little for emergencies.
"I thank Operation Blessing for the opportunity you gave me to help my family," Felicita says with a smile.
