“Jesus Said We Shouldn’t Give Up”

CBN.com —After school, Pim, age 10, rushes home to help around the house.
 
“I like helping my mom with the chores,” Pim told CBN. “We clean the house, wash the dishes, and do the laundry. We also read the Bible together.” 
 
Pim was four-years-old when her mother abandoned her.  A kind old couple who barely knew the family took her in. But after 68-year-old Thongdee’s husband died, she had to make charcoal by hand to bring in a little income.    

“I worry because my mom works outdoors all day. She gets very tired,” Pim said.

Pim also helps her find old bottles to recycle; but that brings in a few extra pennies. No matter how hard they try, there’s never enough money even to buy food. Pim said that sometimes they felt like giving up. But her mom kept telling her that Jesus is their helper. 
 
When CBN ’s Orphan’s Promise heard about the family, we set up a fish farm for them right in their backyard.  
 
When the fish mature, Pim and her mom can sell them for a profit. Thongdee is now completely out of debt and has enough money to buy food and pay for other living expenses.   

“We feed the catfish and they grow really big!” Pim told us. “My mom doesn’t have to cut wood and burn it to make charcoal anymore. Raising fish is a lot easier for her. She doesn’t get sick, and she will have a long life.”
