Reversing the Financial Damage

CBN.com -A freak accident changed Denise Burroughs’ life forever when she simply walked through a revolving door.  

“The door smashed on my left shoulder and I was wearing a raincoat,” says Denise. “It got hooked.  Pulled me down this way with my arm stuck in the door.”
 
She eventually had surgery to repair a severely torn rotator cuff and detached clavicle. Denise began months of physical therapy. Because she was unable to work as a nurse, and living off a small disability check, she got behind on her bills.

“That’s when they want the money,” says Denise. “You’re not paying.  Uh, you try to make payments with them, like ‘I can pay this much, very minimal.’  And they’re like, ‘okay.’  But they won’t stop calling. Everything was taken.  Job, finances, health, my joy.”

Denise was soon more than  $7,000 dollars in debt and that was simply for necessities like rent, food and gas. She gave to her church when she had some extra money. While she was home recuperating, Denise watched the 700 Club. That’s when she learned how important it is to give.

“And Gordon brought up Malachi 3:10 and its ‘bring all your tithes into the storehouse, one-tenth, and God will open the windows of heaven for you,’” says Denise. “I just remember Gordon saying that and I’m like, ‘is that really true?’ And so I went and looked it up in my Bible, and it was.”

So Denise started to tithe regularly from her disability check and her financial situation began to change. Within a few months, her shoulder was well and she got a great paying job as a nurse. That’s when she began to partner with CBN.

“That’s just when everything fell into place,” says Denise. “The job coming, you know, being able to start paying bills back, just for the first time I can breathe.”

This past April, Denise got a promotion, which provided her with another pay increase and a nice bonus. She’s paid off all of her credit card debts. 
“God is very faithful and when you give, God definitely, definitely, 100% gives you above and beyond,” says Denise. “I’ve also heard that you cannot out give God, and I’m living proof, it’s true.”

Being obedient to God's truth made an incredible difference for Denise. She made it possible for God's love to flow through her to others, and She is reaping a blessing for herself as well.
