Was This Family Cursed?
CBN.com —Ahmed loves to play games with his brothers. But no one else in this small Muslim village will play with him, because he doesn’t look like everyone else.
“When I gave birth to Ahmed, I was shocked to see he had a cleft lip,” says Ahmed’s mother, Amina.
When Amina’s father was alive, he had a cleft lip, too. So she and her husband blamed their son’s condition on a family curse. Children in the neighborhood teased Ahmed, and the adults simply stared at him. That always made Ahmed very unhappy.
“Whenever other children made fun of him, he cried and cried. I felt so bad for him,” says Amina.
One day, a CBN volunteer saw Ahmed and knew he could be helped. He took the family to the CBN office, where Ahmed was immediately scheduled for surgery
“When I was told my son’s lip could be fixed, it made me very happy! I knew they could fix it, because they showed us pictures of other children who had been helped,” says Ahmed’s father, Umar.
The very next day, Ahmed underwent surgery, and in no time at all, he had a bright new smile. He couldn’t wait to go outside to play.
“In my father’s time, there was no one who could help him. But my son had you. His lip has been fixed,” says Amina.
“I thank CBN for bringing this help to us,” says Umar.
