You Rescued Me

CBN.com Aury remembers the day her mother abandoned her in a cemetery in northern Guatemala. She was only five.

“My mamá said to me, ‘I am leaving you here because you never obey.’ I was hungry; I had no shoes and I didn't know where to go,” Aury said.

When a woman visiting the cemetery found her there, she brought her to a nearby orphanage supported by CBN’s Orphan’s Promise.

This Christian orphanage has been home to 39 children, and now it is home for Aury. Thanks to the ongoing support from Orphan’s Promise, the home has been able to provide for Aury and the other children’s needs.

“It's much better to live here. I am not hungry anymore, and I like playing with the other kids,” Aury said.

Recently, CBN’s Orphan’s Promise provided new shoes for all the children; something most of them have never owned before. They also bought the children a larger TV. Now, all of the kids can watch their favorite programs together, including CBN’s Superbook, which is teaching them about Jesus and truths of the Bible.

“I learned from Superbook that we should not lie, but always tell the truth,” Aury said. “Thank you for rescuing me.”
