You Supported Holocaust Survivors During COVID!

Zulya is an 84-year-old Holocaust Survivor who lives in Israel. Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, he’s been isolated for months. That’s caused memories of the war to come flooding back.   

Zulya explained, “There was no time to escape before the Nazis overran our village in Moldova. It was winter when we were forced to walk a death march and I remember stepping over the many dead in the snow.”

Zulya spent the rest of the war in a concentration camp where his grandmother and sister died of starvation.  

“It’s very hard to think back to those times. It feels like something stabbing my heart,” said Zulya.

Israel has set strict rules that protect Zulya and other Holocaust Survivors from the Coronavirus, but he can’t leave his home to get groceries. Not having enough food can create real trauma for Holocaust Survivors, so CBN Israel volunteers from a local home church regularly deliver bags of food to Zulya, while wearing protective equipment to keep him safe. 

Zulya said, “I am very thankful for all your love and support. I have been in difficult situations before, and the Christians from the church have always been there to help me.”

With the support of CBN Israel donors and volunteers, Zulya knows he won’t be forgotten. 

Zulya said, “I don’t have enough words to say thank you for all you have done for me. I believe we will make it through this time together.”
