Jesus Online

The Internet is becoming one of the most effective ways known to mankind to connect with people to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. One of the people who is not only effectively evangelizing online, but is also equipping others to use the Internet and digital media for evangelism is Tony Whittaker. Tony is the driving force behind the annual Internet Evangelism Day. He is the editor of the Web Evangelism Bulletin. And he has a new blog called Digital Evangelism Issues (DEI) that focuses on news and ideas for any type of digital outreach – web, mobile phone, video clip, social networking and more.

Of the blog, Tony writes, "It is the blog associated with Internet Evangelism Day (IED), hence the mirror-image acronym! Classical language scholars and those with a Catholic background will notice a second reference: dei is Latin for ‘belonging to God’."

“The last 15 years have changed our world for ever,” claims Tony, who is coordinator of Internet Evangelism Day. “Digital media are transforming the way we communicate, behave and even think. If Facebook was a country, it would have the fourth largest population in the world.”

I highly recommend these resources from Tony Whittaker for anyone who is interested in evangelism, and specifically in digital evangelism:

Digital Evangelism Issues Blog

If you have a Facebook account, you may want to consider adding the DEI blog to your Facebook pages. First you need to choose to 'follow' the blog by hitting the button at http://networkedblogs.com/blog/digital_evangelism_issues/ when logged in to Facebook. Connecting on Facebook places no demands on you and will send no e-mails to you.

You can one of these easy methods to promote the DEI blog on your Facebook site: http://www.internetevangelismday.com/dei-to-facebook.php

Tony's latest blog posting demonstrates the value of video shorts as parable stories to start people thinking. He showcases the example of the stunning, chilling, prizewinning Alma animation that demonstrates the danger of entrapment. Plus the highly recommended Global Short Film Network clips available to download: http://www.internetevangelismday.com/blog/archives/1230

Web Evangelism Bulletin

Internet evangelist and writer, Rusty Wright is a subscriber to the Bulletin. He writes, “The Web Evangelism Bulletin has become an indispensable resource for keeping abreast of the growing Internet Evangelism movement. I count on it for outreach ideas and advice.”

You can find the online Web Evangelism Bulletin and subscribe at http://www.web-evangelism.com/resources/webull09dec.php.

Internet Evangelism Day

Internet Evangelism Day is a strategic resource to help the worldwide church understand these issues and use the Web to share the good news. It is both a year-round online guide and an annual focus day – to be held this year on Sunday 25 April.

IE Day’s website is also a one-stop resource covering many subjects, including how to build a church website that is ‘outsider friendly’, using Twitter in evangelism, and blogging. Perhaps surprisingly, you do not need to be technical to share your faith online. There are also many opportunities to volunteer as an email mentor to inquirers with several large online outreach ministries.

Internet Evangelism Day is an initiative of the Internet Evangelism Coalition, based at the Billy Graham Center, Wheaton. It is supported by a wide range of leaders and groups. “I am glad to commend Internet Evangelism Day,” says John Stott.
