Is the USA in Deep Doo Doo?

Greetings all.

A number of years ago I read a book, When Nations Die, authored by Jim Nelson Black, (Tyndale House Publishers) wherein he recites the fact that great nations rise and fall with great regularity in history. He then goes on to describe ten symptoms seen  most often in the decline of empires.

He noted that the USA is the ONLY culture that all ten of those symptoms occurred simultaneously.

1.     A crisis of lawlessness. Violent crime is up in the USA.
2.     A loss of economic discipline. For the first time in history the downgrade of the USA’s triple-A credit rating and of course as of August 3, 2011, the gross debt was $14.34 trillion dollars.
3.     The rise of bureaucracy. There has been more than a four thousand percent increase in employees working for the U.S. government in six decades.
4.     Education Declining. A quote from the book: “We have college graduates who are incapable of working in the marketplace. We have high school graduates who can’t read their own diplomas.” In 2010, American students rank 17th in the world.
•        I wonder if their might not be a direct correlation  between taking God out of schools and the ten commandments off the walls.
5.     Cultural Foundations Weakening. Among other things, the removal of the history of the Christian faith from our history books. Not to mention the hedonism of “pop culture” in our society.
6.     The loss of respect for tradition. “Youth honored, honorable men disdained.” (Isaiah)
7.     Materialism increasing. Has the USA gone whoring with “the merchants of the earth through the abundance of her luxury?” (Revelation 18)
8.     Immorality Rising. Abortion, the legalization of homosexuality, etc. have always been the historical signs of a decadent civilization.
9.     Human life devalued.  Abortion, euthanasia. Since 1973, roughly 50 million legally induced abortions have been performed in the United States. The thing that incurred the wrath of God against ancient Israel was the spilling of innocent blood, “Provoking to anger the Lord God of their fathers.” (2 Chronicles)
10.Religious belief decaying.

“When the foundations are being destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”

Look over these issues and see where, if any, apply to you personally.  Prayer and turning around (repentance) from personal conduct, and actions, would be a beginning. Because:

“The LORD is in his holy Temple;
the LORD still rules from heaven.
He watches everyone closely,
examining every person on earth.
5 The LORD examines both the righteous and the wicked.
He hates those who love violence.
6 He will rain down blazing coals and burning sulfur on the wicked,
punishing them with scorching winds.
(Whatever happened to gentle Jesus meek and mild?)
7 For the righteous LORD loves justice.
The virtuous will see his face.”
(Psalm 11)

For your consideration,
Scott
