Bipartisan Meeting: Immigration

A little bit more for you on that meeting that's scheduled for this afternoon in the Oval Office.  A show of bipartisanship, people!  President Obama is having Senator Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Graham (R-SC) over to talk about immigration reform.

The Senators have been working for months to craft a bill.  The White House wants to get the party started because once lawmakers are distracted by 2010 elections this fall, they know it will be tough to get something done on another polarizing issue.

Here's what the President said about the issue during the State of the Union on January 27th.  A small mention, really:

"...We should continue the work of fixing our broken immigration system -– to secure our borders and enforce our laws, and ensure that everyone who plays by the rules can contribute to our economy and enrich our nation."

The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 this afternoon.  It's closed to the press.
