President Obama Speaks on Mubarak Leaving Office

In a quick statement from the Grand Foyer of the White House, President Barack Obama said, “The people of Egypt have spoken, their voices have been heard, and Egypt will never be the same."

"The U.S. will be a friend and a partner to assist Egypt," he went on, also saying that the news of Mubarak stepping down was not the end of the transition, but the beginning.

We have learned that Obama was slipped a note about Mubarak, while he was in a meeting. As of this writing, he had not spoken with any Egyptian heads of state.
