National Christmas Tree Toppled by Wind
The National Christmas Tree stood on the South side of the White House for 32 years. Every year, the President of the United States would lead the nation in lighting it.

Presidents Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama lit this particular Colorado blue spruce.
But, no more. A huge gust of wind blew it over on Saturday.

Now, it's been ground into mulch.
The National Park Service says it already has a replacement tree ready to go. It will be planted soon.
