EXCLUSIVE: FRC Calling for DOMA Records
It's been about a week since Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the Obama administration would no longer defend DOMA (the Defense of Marriage Act).
Today, at a hearing, he was challenged by Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., on it. Wolf reportedly said Congress has reason to be concerned over the Justice Department's decision, saying "It almost looks like a political decision," according to Talking Points Memo.
Now, the Family Research Council has some questions. They're filing a request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) over the Justice Department's decision and a Prop 8 case.
In a copy of the letter, obtained by CBN News, Family Research Council Tony Perkins writes, "I am troubled by the lightning-fast integration of concepts and actual language from the Attorney General Letter into the Motion to Vacate Stay."
Perkins says the motion was filed within two and a half hours of the Press Conference about DOMA.
So, FRC is asking the Department of Justice to turn over all correspondence regarding the matter. That includes documents, statements, e-mails, text messages, phone call records, etc., within 20 business days.
