President Obama Sends First Presidential 'Tweet'

This afternoon, President Obama took between 15 and 20 questions from Twitter users, including Speaker John Boehner.

Jobs was the number one trending topic, the entire time. That's what Speaker Boehner asked about, "Where are the jobs?"

"Eventually, I'm sure the Speaker will see the light," Obama said in part of his response.

The President addressed issues like jobs, the deficit, military spending, education, immigration, taxes, and the future of the space program.

I listen to the President a lot. I can confirm for you that he didn't really make any news today with this Twitter "town hall."

Well, except for this:

I photographed history in the East Room of the White House today, people. This is THE FIRST Presidential tweet!

Not exactly a "fireside chat," but it is a major way of communication these days, so there.

From where I was standing, Obama seemed to be using a MacBook Pro with a Presidential seal on it.

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey moderated the session. The audience was made up of 140 people, some who are followers of the White House's Twitter feed and came here as part of a "tweet up."

The crowd seemed to love the President, loudly cheering him when he entered the room. When the event was over, he worked the crowd, shaking hands, and taking pictures.
