Hillary Clinton's take on Africa

As Senator Hillary Clinton is getting grilled on international relations for what may be her new job of Secretary of State, many wonder what her policies on Africa would be in the future.

One main concern is Darfur.  Some media reports shout that she is "sounding the alarm" about the conflict.  (As if no one's been talking about it the past few years!)

Clinton is quoted everywhere as having said...

"We have spoken about other options, no-fly zones, other sanctions and sanctuaries, looking to deploy the UN/AU force to try to protect the refugees but also to repel the militias."

Sounds good enough, but here's the problem, politicos have been talking about doing these things for years.  None of these options is really new.  The real issue is no one's had the guts to put any real weight behind any of thse options.  The question is, does Sen. Clinton have what it takes to help bring the conflict (and others) to an end or will it be more years of talk, handwringing and concerned faces with no real action?

How about all the other tough situations facing Africa?  What will Mrs. Clinton do?  Best to let her tell us.  To learn more about her thoughts on Africa, read these transcripts.  Very interesting stuff.

What type of Secretary of State would Hillary Clinton make?  E-mail me your thoughts.
