Nobody Likes Americans

"Nobody likes them." The latest over-the-top statement by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Not surprisingly, it was Americans he was referring to.

The juvenile pronouncement came as the fiery politician was leaving Iraq after becoming the first Iranian president to visit the country.

I'm sure Ahmadinejad himself is a big hit with the Iraqi people, since he's been shipping munitions across the border that have been maiming local citizens for years. But rather than dwell on the stupefying level of arrogance and irony displayed by this ridiculous excuse for a statesman, let's take a quick look at some everyday Iraqis, Afghanis and others who might disagree with his assertion.

These girls in Afghanistan are studying physics thanks to the liberation of their country by coalition forces. I bet they like us.

These Iraqi landowners seem pretty happy that a provincial reconstruction team from the U.S. State Department is helping to restore their community. They seem to like us okay.

Businessmen and merchants in Hawijah, northern Iraq are quite pleased with the peace we've helped them create.

Kids in Djibouti don't mind playing soccer with U.S. Marines every week. They're even was quoted as saying, "The people in town are big fans of the service members on the American base."

Granted, there are people out there who really don't like America. These include:

     - The eco-idiots who caused tons of hydro-carbon emissions by burning down luxury homes in Washington State.

     - Certain al-Qaeda-types in Somalia.

     - Hugo 'Bolivarilandia' Chavez.

Take heart, however. There's a lot to like about America. Just ask any of the 600,000 foreign students who came to the United States last year on exchange programs, or any of the hundreds of millions of world citizens who received charity last year from American aid organizations like Operation Blessing. Or maybe ask a few of the more than 100,000 orphans who were adopted by American parents in the last five years.

America isn't perfect, but we do more good for more people than any other country. And that's why America is great, no matter what anybody says.
