In his free time, Destiny designs and creates elaborate buildings from cardboard boxes. Destiny explained, “I didn’t learn this from anyone, it just came to me one day and I started. I put a lot of effort into it. One time, I made a six-story building. I love doing this, and I know God bestowed this gift upon me. I have it on my heart to become an architect when I grow up.”

Destiny is one of thirty-seven children that CBN’s Orphan’s Promise supports here at Facado Orphanage in Nigeria. Ngozi, his house mother, was there the day he first arrived.

“When he was three years old, his biological mother took him to the market and left him there. The police did everything they could to find his parents, but to no avail,” Ngozi explained.

Destiny said, “All I remember is that I was crying. I never saw my mother again.” Social services took Destiny to the children’s home and put him in Ngozi’s care. Ngozi said, “He was very scared and destructive at first. With the Word of God and prayer, we started to see him grow and slowly transform into the boy he is today.”

“I’ve learned so much from her,” said Destiny. “She is the one that led me to Christ. Ever since, I have so much peace and hope. I don’t question God about my past, because He destined for me to grow up here. They feed and clothe us well. With God’s help, I am teaching my younger brothers and sisters here what I have learned. I teach them the Word of God. I pray with them. I play with them. I also enjoy dancing and laughing with them.”

Ngozi said, “I am so proud of Destiny. With Orphan’s Promise’s support, he has two more years until he graduates from high school. He is doing very well with his studies. He is intelligent and wise, hardworking, and he has a giving heart. I really believe he will make it in life.”

Destiny said, “My mom here encourages me to put as much effort as I can into pursuing my career. My dream is to one day buy land and build houses for the poor and churches. To everyone who supports Orphan’s Promise, I want to say a very big, ‘Thank you.’ May God bless you all for taking such good care of me.”
