I am in the Middle East as Ramadan begins. It's the annual month of fasting and prayer for one-seventh of the world's people.

A muezzin awakened me from a sound sleep early this morning as he sang the first call to prayer of Ramadan. Later in the day, I noticed the frowning faces of many fasting Muslims who had skipped breakfast and lunch.

Imagine being targeted simply because you're wearing a cross pendant around your neck.

It sounds outlandish to people living in a country that guarantees religious freedom, but the reality is that right is not universal. And reports coming from Egypt show the number of cases involving violations of religious freedom is on the rise.

That's true for one group in particular: Egypt's Coptic Christians and, more specifically, women affiliated with the group.

Matt admitted he thought about a recovery meeting after he used. He also said he thought about calling his sponsor but felt ashamed to admit he used again. “And you think you are the only one who ever relapsed?” I asked. We both laughed out loud. We knew he wasn’t.

Summer heat waves: a normal occurrence or a sign of climate doom? That the media even debates this question shows how far into Hollywood-style fantasy the climate change bunch has taken us.

Two explosions rocked Israel yesterday. They exploded hundreds of miles apart but both struck deep into the heart of Israel.

The first was personal. A suicide bomber killed five Israeli tourists just as they arrived for a holiday in Bulgaria. Israeli Prime Minister immediately implicated Iran and its proxy Iran.

The second explosion in the middle of Damascus killed a number of Syrian President's Assad's inner circle. Many consider the attack a tipping point in the Syrian conflict and wonder if Assad's days are numbered.

If President Obama becomes Jimmy Carter, Mitt Romney will win the presidency. The Brody File will be tracking how much Mitt Romney can turn Obama into Carter.

Reagan won the presidency in 1980 because he made the case that Jimmy Carter’s economic policies had failed and then asked the famous question, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?”

Romney is essentially trying to do the same thing to Obama. The Brody File has decided to give this effort a name. We’re calling it, “The Jimmy Carter Scale.”
