Completely Healed From Allergies
Elizabeth Woods had had enough of the hives covering her body and the itching that came with them. So, in 2007 she had a full spectrum of allergy tests done. She wasn’t prepared for what they found. “The first thing that came out of his mouth was, ‘You belong on another planet.’ He had like four pages of allergies that includes everything primarily around me, the outside, the indoors, dust, pets, animals.” Even worse for Elizabeth, was the long list of food allergies.
The other things she could manage, completely changing her diet was another story. She says, “It took so long for me to grocery shop, usually at least two hours. Reading the labels and, I mean, it was a very strenuous task. It became really depressing.” Elizabeth had to start carrying Benadryl and an EpiPen for emergencies. Dining out also became a tedious task to avoid trigger foods like dairy, soy, or nuts. She says, “I really have to study the menu. I would have to talk to the waitress. Sometimes call beforehand and ask for the ingredients of this and ingredients of that.”
For over ten years Elizabeth prayed for relief. She recalls, “I would get tired of not being able to enjoy life, not being able to eat. And I would use the scripture, where God said I give you life and life more abundantly. And, you know, I was praying, ‘God, I want that life more abundantly. I want to be able to eat something and not to be worried. I want to be able to be like everybody else.'”
In 2020 Elizabeth started watching The 700 Club on a regular basis, recording the episodes and watching them after work. She says, “I mostly enjoy the prayer part. I'm praying for that person with cancer. I'm praying for that person with a broken body. I am praying, you know, right along, like, ‘Oh, oh, yes, Lord, heal them, Jesus.’ It really ministered to me.” Little did she know that on April 6th, 2021, it would be “her day” for prayer. She recalls, “And I turned it on to watch April the 6th. And I heard God say, ‘Watch March 31st.’”
When the time came for prayer, Terry said, ‘There’s someone out there, you have a severe food allergy. It just keeps getting worse and worse, you can hardly eat anything. God’s healing that for you. Your whole system is being put in order and you’re going to be able to enjoy foods you haven’t eaten in years.’ She recalls, “I was just like, ‘Oh, my God, that is me’. I mean, I got so excited, I'm like, ‘Oh, God! Oh, God!’ And I-I was blown away. I mean, that God would think of me and remember me right then. And I needed Him to do that. And I knew, you know, that He was going to heal me from my food allergies.”
Right after, Elizabeth decided to do a little test. Since two big problem foods were dairy and peanuts, she went out and bought some ice cream bars with nuts, one of her favorite treats she hadn’t enjoyed for years. She says, “I ate it slowly and there was no reaction. None whatsoever. I started thanking God. I, you know, I called up my friends, like, ‘Oh, my goodness, you won't believe what happened to me.’ You know. And I was just so happy and so excited."
Today Elizabeth is still enjoying the freedom to eat wherever and whatever she wants. She says, “I'm just really encouraged because I know He took care of my food allergy and He got everything else under control, too.”
