Joy Bauer's 'Life Diet'

CBN.com HER LIFE PROMISE

As a registered dietician, Joy Bauer has helped thousands of men and women lose between 100 and 300 pounds using her LIFE diet principles - and they kept it off. LIFE stands for Look Incredible, Feel Extraordinary. She says that it doesn’t happen by magic; you need to be ready to change your mind, change your eating style, and change your loyalties. If you identify yourself with food, separate yourself.

“Once you get there,” says Joy, “you don’t ever have to go back to the old you. Give the big clothes to Goodwill. This weight loss is here to stay!”

JOY’S LIFE SECRETS

Many of the people who have used Joy’s Life Diet have lost between three and 11 pounds the first week.

Joy with children“The amount of weight you can expect to lose depends on how much you need to lose, how much you were eating before the plan, how much exercise you are willing to commit to do each day, your genetics, etc.," Joy says.

Joy’s Life Secret 1:  “When it comes to successful weight loss, I think it’s imperative for people to have foods they can eat in unlimited portions at any point during the day,” says Joy. So load your fridge with the “unlimited” foods and feel free to indulge whenever you’re hungry, particularly between meals and snacks.

Joy’s Life Secret 2:  Stretch dinner with a first course. Studies show that starting dinner with a bowl of LIFE broth based soup with non-starchy vegetables or a tossed salad could slash calorie intake by 20%.

Joy’s Life Secret 3:  Cut out sodas and sugary drinks. You could trim 250 calories each day, that’s just one 20-ounce bottle of soda. At the end of the year, you will prevent 125 cups of sugar from entering your body and lose 25 pounds!

GOING DOWNHILL FAST

Jon Stanton has been heavy his whole life. At 15, Jon started taking high blood pressure medication.

“It was difficult when I was younger," Jon said (now  32-years-old and single). "By the time I was a teen, I overcompensated with my personality. I had a lot of friends but thought being heavy was my destiny.”

By the time he was in his 30s, Jon says physically everything went downhill. That was when his doctor diagnosed him with Type-2 diabetes.

“The doctor told me I would die if I didn’t change,” Jon said.

At this point, Jon was 430 pounds, suffering with congestive heart failure, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and was having trouble getting around physically.
Then a friend, Jody, who had lost 160 pounds on Joy’s Life Diet, told Jon about Joy. Jody called Joy to tell her that Jon wanted to lose weight. Then Joy contacted Jon and told him about her Life Diet.

“I’m not a big fan of diets,” Jon told her. But after 15 months, Jon is down to 201 pounds.

“Joy’s Life Diet is a philosophy, it’s not a fad diet,” Jon said. “It’s a good system that incorporates more than exercise and eating right. It’s a lifestyle.”

He learned how to eat properly. Before, Jon used to eat an entire box of doughnuts for breakfast and highly processed or fast food meals the rest of the day including four or five double cheeseburgers, fries and a large Diet Coke from McDonalds. On the way home as a snack, Jon would stop at a drive through and get three or four more double cheeseburgers. Then at home, he would eat a full supper, usually spagetti or pasta, on top of that.

“Being full never really lasted long. I could always eat again in 15 or 20 minutes,” Jon said.

Finally, at 9:00 or 10:00 p.m., Jon would eat again; usually out with friends at a restaurant, which comprised of hamburger and fries. Or, if he were at home, Jon would help himself to big sandwiches and chips.

“My biggest weakness was doughnuts or snack cakes,” Jon said.

LEARNING THE LIFE DIET

With Joy’s Life Diet, Jon learned how to eat differently.

“I think I felt God’s presence with the food. Right from the beginning, I didn’t struggle with it. Sometimes I struggled, but not like I thought,” he said.

There are times, however, when he celebrates.

“The Bible tells us to celebrate. We just can’t celebrate every day,” Jon said.

Jon Stanton

Today, Jon is off all of his medications. His doctor told him that he is only one of five people that he has treated that has successfully gotten off blood pressure medication, just from lifestyle changes.

Jon is active in his church and feels compelled to take the message of health to Christians.

“There is such a spiritual aspect to our health - physical, spiritual, emotional. One of those can’t be out of whack,” he said.

Jon’s dad and one of his sisters is currently working on losing weight with the Life Diet. Jon's website is www.jonstanton.net.
