Make Money By Giving It Away

Sheri made Bud Rowe promise her something before they started a relationship. “When I started dating her one of the conditions was, “You have to go to church with me.” Bud said, “I guess I can do that.” Bud accepted the Lord and eventually proposed. After they married, Bud and Sheri moved to a new town to begin their life together. “Basically when we got married, between the two of us we had nothing,” he said. Sheri had left behind a successful insurance business, and decided to start another one. In no time at all, she had more than 400 clients. And while Bud was grateful for the income, he wondered why Sheri’s business was booming while a computer software company he bought had failed. “As an economist I can’t understand it,” Bud explained. “In the real world, it’s not supposed to work that way.” What Bud did not understand was the biblical principle that says give, and it shall be given to you. Instead of counting on spreadsheets and business plans, Sheri banked on a promise from God. “I had grown up in a church where people would give testimonies about tithing,” Sheri said. “So I expected that if I was obedient to this principal of God, that God would bless the money that was left in my hand. And he did.” “God has never, ever, ever let me down. Ever,” she said. Still, Bud had a hard time accepting the idea that Sheri seemed to be making money by giving it away. “I watched her and I said, ‘Well, okay, it’s your money.’ She didn’t put any pressure on me, but I watched her. She was blessed, and everything she touched was blessed, and I said, ‘Well, maybe I ought to try this,’” he said. So Bud and Sheri joined forces and went to work selling real estate. This time, they decided what to give — together. One place they give is to CBN. “I often would look at devastating things all over the earth, like an earthquake or something like that, and I would think, “Lord, how can I help? What can I do?” And I knew ... I knew CBN was going to be the answer to that. I wanted to become a partner so that I would know my money was already there working,” she said. And as they gave, Bud and Sheri saw their real estate business take off. In five months, they sold more houses than the previous year. “God promised in His word that if you’re obedient, He will bless you,” Bud said. “He’s got a warehouse of blessings up there just waiting for us, and you just don’t want to waste them. You don’t want to not receive them.” “God just opened up the flood gates and blessed our business,” Sheri said. So much so, that now, every time the Rowes sell a house, they give a percentage of that sale to CBN and Operation Blessing to help keep the work going overseas. “The purpose of that is that people find Jesus Christ, that they find Him as their Lord and Savior, their healer and deliverer,” Sheri said. “That’s what it’s all about. If we can be a part of that, then maybe I have fulfilled my destiny, my purpose for being on the earth.” God wants to bless you too, just as He has blessed the Rowes.
