Makeover with Marguerite Evans

CBN.com Two young women embark on a journey that will change their lives forever. Led by Marguerite Evans, here is the account of their journey:

Marguerite Evans: As a fashion model, I worked for years in a business that emphasizes the outward appearance. But I know that real beauty comes from within and that’s what I develop in young women, women like 17-year-old Amanda Bernard and 28-year-old Youngbee Kim.

Amanda and Youngbee come from different backgrounds, yet they have so much in common: feelings of abandonment and rejection, but most importantly - they are both ready for change.

Youngbee: Looking back, sometimes I feel like I lost my childhood.

Amanda: I got to the point, where I was like, you know what?  I don’t want to be here anymore.

Two young women, with no self-confidence; so, the three of them went on a retreat to North Carolina where the girls were getting a total makeover. Amanda and Marguerite went for a walk on the beach.

Marguerite: So, tell me what was it like growing up?

Amanda: Well, my Dad and I didn’t have much of a relationship because we were separated.

Marguerite: And socially with friends, did you have a lot of friends?

Amanda:  Well, starting my 3rd grade in elementary school, I was switched to a special class and kids started making fun of me and I don’t know why.

Amanda’s honesty touched Marguerite and she couldn’t wait to see how Amanda’s life would change this weekend. She sat down later that day with Youngbee, who told her all about her life.

Youngbee: I was born in Seoul, Korea.

Marguerite: How old were you when you came to America?

Youngbee: I was 15.

Marguerite: What was growing up like for you?

Youngbee: My parents were always busy and it was very lonely. My Dad drinks almost every other day and he was absent often; but when he was home, he was very abusive -  sometimes physically, a lot of times emotionally. I wasn’t able to get into any colleges that I applied to, so that’s when God got a hold of my life. It [college] was the only thing I was looking forward to, as a lot of Asian kids. I felt like a failure because I didn’t have any friends, because I was always studying.

After listening to Youngbee and Amanda’s stories, they talked and prayed with Marguerite and it seemed the girls were receiving a real breakthrough.

Amanda: Today during prayer, I felt Jesus put his hand on my head.  It made me feel so calm.

Marguerite: You know, the inside makeover is the most important part, because whatever is on the inside, will show on the outside.

Youngbee: I’m glad the Holy Spirit ministered to me last night. I feel more confident to be who I am, than compared to before.

Amanda: I had seen a vision of Jesus walking towards me with His arms open, and I felt such a peace in my heart. It made me feel so happy.

Marguerite felt it was time for the girls to have some fun! So, they went to visit her friend Clarice. She owns a boutique in Sunset Beach and she’s dressed some of Hollywood’s biggest stars!

Clarice: Girls, are you ready for some major shopping?

Girls: YEAH!!!

Marguerite: Amanda these are for you, go try them on!

Clarice: And Youngbee, these are for you - go get started!

Marguerite: Do you feel like you have been made over?”

Amanda: Definitely

Marguerite: Youngbee let us see!  Wow!

Clarice: Wow!

Youngbee: I feel like a princess.

Marguerite: I think we have ourselves two models here!

Before they knew it, Youngbee, Amanda, and Marguerite packed up to go back to Virginia because it was time for the girls to finish off their new looks!

Marguerite: The girls are getting a major hair makeover!  And I am so excited, let’s first talk to Brandy and Amanda.

Brandy: Well, we are going to do some fun layering and caramel and blonde
highlights.

Marguerite: Are you excited Amanda?

Amanda: Yeah!

Marguerite: And lets see what Casey and Youngbee are going to do.

Casey: I want to give her a modern shape, and  I am also going to add some vibrant highlights.

Marguerite: Youngbee, I think you are going to look smashing!  Are you excited?

Youngbee: Yes I am!

Amanda:  Oh my gosh, I look so pretty!

Youngbee: Wow!

Marguerite: Girls we are going to see CBN’s make-up artist and stylist, Pam Sams. Are you excited?

Girls: Yeah!

Pam: Hi Ladies. Oh, you look beautiful! Let’s get started!

The makeovers were complete. Youngbee and Amanda’s friends and family waited anxiously to see their new looks!

Marguerite: Youngbee and Amanda, come on!

Friends and family: Wooooo hoooooo!

Amanda’s Mom: We prayed together last night. I mean, it’s a new Amanda!

JP (Fried on Youngbee): Youngbee is glowing and it seems that her spirit has been lifted a lot!

Girls hug Marguerite: Thank you so much!
