Read Your Bible, Pray Every Day
CBN.com -- "In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation" (Psalm 5:3*).
Do you take time to read your Bible and pray every day? I don't. But I want to. It is a goal I am working toward.
I confess I do not always read the Bible daily, although I never get through the day without needing to pray. There are times when I oversleep and skip my Bible reading. When I do, I feel poorly equipped to face the challenges of the day before me.
I have a stress-filled life; a high-pressure job. If I don't spend time in God's presence every day, I find I lose my temper easily. I get impatient and make mistakes. Worst of all I am uncertain of what God is trying to accomplish and I can't sense His direction very well.
If I take a few minutes to read God's word, and to pray before my day begins, I am much more likely to be sensitive to the things He wants me to do and to the people He wants me to care for. I am more aware of His guidance if I have taken time to be with Him. I deal with issues much better if I have given my day and its events to the Lord. I am much less likely to be stressed and short tempered.
Even David needed to pray before his day began. He says, "In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice..."
Join me in my efforts to try to pray and read the Bible. Every day.
