Ben-Hur Remake Releases First Official Trailer
Mark Burnett and Roma Downey are back it again. This time the husband/wife, executive-producing duo are helping Paramount Pictures with their remake of Charlton Heston's 1959 epic, Ben-Hur. Releasing theaters nationwide this August, the major motion picture just released its first official trailer (watch below).
In the 2-minute plus sneak peek video, we get our first glimpse of Judah Ben-Hur played by British actor Jack Huston and his adopted brother/rival, Messala (Toby Kebbell). The clips suggest an action-heavy, dramatic adventure in this remake, but there also are some clues that the classic Roman-era saga will still have faith.
The studio confirms Ben-Hur will be "bursting with action - including a new chariot race for the ages - and elevated by Christian themes of justice, liberty, and radical forgiveness".
Based on Lew Wallace's Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, the Timur Bekmambetov-directed film also stars Morgan Freeman, Nazanin Boniadi, Haluk Bilginer, and Rodrigo Santoro, as Jesus of Nazareth.
Ben-Hur is a major Paramount Pictures/MGM motion picture hitting theaters nationwide on August 19, 2016. This film has not yet been rated.
