I Trust in God
I am a frequent flyer because of personal, ministry, and business travel throughout the year. The hum of a plane's engines and the voices of fellow passengers sharing why they are traveling never get old. Once the plane takes off and we are tens of thousands of feet in the air, I look at the clouds and marvel at God's creation. I reflect on mankind’s ability to make such an aircraft and to fly it to its destination. I always marvel at the trust I place in the pilot to get us safely to our destination.
In all my years and hundreds of thousands of miles of air travel, I have never gone to the cockpit to check whether the pilot is doing his or her job or to make sure every button is pushed at the right time. The pilots are experts in flight, and I have never doubted their ability to fly the aircraft.
Even more than I trust the pilots, I trust God with my life. Through circumstances, encounters, and experiences, whether good or bad, I know that God is present in it all. Anytime I face decisions, I remember the Scripture in Proverbs 3:5 (CSB) that says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.”
This scripture anchors me in decision-making, health concerns, work projects, family dilemmas, and every other area of life. Trusting God with my entire self, rather than relying on my limited understanding of situations and facts, brings peace and allows Him to be in charge of the outcomes and conclusions.
Proverbs 3:6 (CSB) says, “in all your ways know Him, and He will make your paths straight.” As I face uncertainty and decisions that feel too big for me to carry, I am reminded that God does not ask me to understand every detail before I trust Him. He invites me to know Him in every step, to bring Him my questions, my concerns, my plans, and even my fears. When I do, He faithfully guides me, often in ways I could not have predicted or planned on my own.
Just as I can sit peacefully in an airplane without seeing every instrument in the cockpit, I can rest in the hands of my heavenly Father. He sees the full route when I can only see the next few steps. He knows the destination, the timing, the weather ahead, and the safest path forward. My role is not to control the journey, but to trust the One who is leading me.
No matter what you face today, God is worthy of your full trust and dependence. You may not see the whole path ahead, but He does, and He is already guiding you with wisdom and love. Rest in His care, follow His lead, and trust Him to bring you safely where He wants you to go.
Prayer: Lord, today I face many decisions and circumstances in my life. Teach me to trust You with all my heart and to stop relying only on what I can see or understand. Help me to know You in every way, surrender my plans to You, and follow where You lead. Thank You for guiding my path and holding my life securely in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, amen.
