Pray for America - Day 7
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. — Psalm 147:3
DAY 7: "Comfort"
When disasters such as floods, consuming wildfires, severe storms, tornadoes and hurricanes strike, they leave a path of destruction that breaks the hearts of their victims. The effects of the death of loved ones, the obliteration of family homes, the irreparable damage to businesses, and the devastating loss of personal belongings can crush the spirit. Shelters can offer a temporary solution, but survivors will inevitably have to return home to assess their personal damages.
The delivery of comfort to those suffering such losses is in the hands of the family of God—the church. For as we ourselves have been comforted by God Himself, it is with that same comfort that the church becomes a refuge in the midst of tragedy. The strength of the church becomes powerful when God’s people unite in prayer and purpose to deliver God’s promise of healing to the brokenhearted. The consolation that can be offered in such times of vulnerability is in the hands and feet of those who bring the promise of good news.
Pray for America’s churches to unite under the banner of God’s love and His power to bring hope and healing to those experiencing such pain and anguish. May prayers be sent to the throne of God’s grace on behalf of those suffering across our land.
