Pray for America - Day 8
I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant, for I do not forget Your commandments. — Psalm 119:176
DAY 8: "Our Shepherd"
In today’s world, we have become more self-reliant. Our success has been defined by what we have achieved. Self-help books, articles, and online information provide guidance for personal improvement. As God’s people, have we gradually moved away from our dependence on God? Have we become like sheep going astray in an endless search for help? Have we wandered aimlessly and forgotten to rely on our all-sufficient Shepherd? Have we not remembered that He calls us by name, and we are His?
In Psalm 23, we are reminded that God is indeed our Shepherd. He provides for all our needs, gives us refreshment, and restores our soul. He guides our paths with His righteousness. Even though we walk through times of great darkness, we don’t need to be afraid—because He protects us with His presence. We overflow with His joy and His anointing. His goodness and mercy follow us throughout our day with the promise that we will securely dwell in His house forever.
Pray that America will repent and turn away from dependence on “what” we think we want—and return to total dependence on “Who” we need. Plead with our God, our all-sufficient Shepherd, to forgive us for living like we have no need of Him.
