The Secrets Behind Signs, Wonders, and Answered Prayers

THE GODWINK EFFECT    
Many people experience coincidences in their everyday lives that are too strange to be chalked up to just mere chance. SQuire Rushnell believes that these so-called coincidences are often dismissed too easily and that they many times mean something more significant. He calls them Godwinks; a personal communication from God to an individual, which is usually a circumstance or event that seems like a coincidence but is too personal and unbelievable to be so. Skeptics try to dismiss these events as coincidence through math and science equations but many times the odds are not in their favor.

Godwinks are messages of reassurance and encouragement from God throughout one's life to reassure an individual that he or she is on the right track. SQuire says they are like sign posts, they don't direct you but they reassure you that you’re heading in the right direction. He says, “Our lives are not random experiences taking us to destinations unknown. Our lives are part of a much greater plan.” Godwinks simply give us hope in times of uncertainty so we can move towards certainty. He also believes it is important for people to dig into their past to find these key moments, turning points, and transitions. When people find Godwinks in their past, they can better understand what God has for them in their future. SQuire says, “Because we live our lives forward, but understand them backwards, we can now see the patterns that consistently unfold.”

The Godwink Effect is the series of ripples that result from Godwinks occurring in your life. SQuire and Louise say, “Let us say you have been praying for a job. Nothing has panned out. You’re feeling discouraged. But you don’t give up. You just keep praying and trying. Then something unexpected and illogical happens. For no real reason, you take a different route to get somewhere, and you encounter someone who just ‘happens’ along. A Godwink. That person not only assists you, but during your conversation finds out about your career qualification and in turn connects you with a friend who is looking for someone with your exact skill set. Another Godwink. Before you know it, you have a new job, which, in turn, leads to a wonderful Godwink- meeting the love of your life - and your entire existence continues to change for the better.”

7 STEPS TO GOD’S SIGNS, WONDERS, AND ANSWERED PRAYER
The first secret to seeing Godwinks unfold before your eyes is prayer. Praying clears the path for blessings to come into your life. Sometimes prayer is intentional but on other occasions prayer is nothing more than a desire in our heart. We make an offhand comment to God and think nothing of it. God answers prayers whether they are intentional or unintentional.

Second, we can experience Godwinks when we ask. We can never ask God for too much because his resources are unlimited.  The third secret goes hand in hand with asking. Whenever you ask, you must also believe. The more you believe, the more your faith in God grows stronger. “The more you let yourself fall in God’s arms, the more you trust that He’ll catch you, rescue you from danger, get you out of tough jams, or help you achieve a goal - the more you’ll find he has caught you once again. The more strongly you believe, the more he’ll catch you. The Fourth step is expecting. Once God has given you a promise, expecting means knowing the promise will come about despite any setbacks that occur.

After we do these things, it’s time for the fifth secret - watching for signs to occur.  Godwinks are signs of hope and encouragement. Signs will often affirm that God is right there with us, yet they should not be used as a substitute for praying and consulting with God when making decisions. The sixth secret is to look for wonders. Wonders are different from signs because while a sign might come in the form of an unbelievable “coincidence” (it never is one!), a wonder can only occur through the supernatural realm.  When people see angels, or when someone emerges from a deadly disaster unharmed, a wonder has taken place. The final step is to prepare to experience divine alignment. Divine alignment occurs when God places us at the right place, at the right time, with the right people.  Through divine alignment of Godwinks, God keeps us on the right course. SQuire says a Godwink is a person-to-person message directly to you out of seven billion people on the planet. That’s true. But Godwinks can also cascade into a series of ripples, affecting many people besides yourself.”

KATE’S GODWINK STORY
SQuire and Louise have seen many lives changed by Godwinks. One Godwink story they remember is Kate’s, who is a cheerful person who works the cash register at a Cracker Barrel in Florida. Her son was getting married in Phoenix, but she was broke and her son couldn’t afford to fly her there. So, she prayed every day. “God, if you want me to go to that wedding, you’ll find the way.” She asked, believed, and expected an outcome from God. 

On the eve of the wedding, Kate was at her register when a co-worker walked past and shouted, “Hey Kate! What are you doing here? You should be at your son’s wedding!” Kate looked up as pair of Southwest flight attendants was standing there to pay their bill. “Your son’s getting married?” asked one of them. Her name was Angie. “Yeah. I can’t afford to go,” Kate started to say. Then, not wanting to feel sorry for herself, she cheerfully added, “Hey! On your next flight over Phoenix how about you put a parachute on my back and shove me out!” Everyone laughed and the next customer stepped up. A few minutes later, Kate saw that the flight attendants had returned. “Can you get tomorrow off?” they asked. “She sure can!” shouted one of Kate’s co-workers. “I’ll take her shift.” The flight attendants had found two Buddy Passes in our bags in their car that would get her there and back. They made the reservations for Kate’s flight to Phoenix the next day.
