New Bonhoeffer Biography; Internet Evangelism Day is This Sunday
"If your opponent has a conscience, then follow Ghandi and non-violence. But if your enemy has no conscience like Hitler, then follow Bonhoeffer" Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
What does a Christian do when faced with the choice of following an immoral natural law or adhering to God's law?
In Nazi Germany, Christians were faced with the choice of loyalty to Adolf Hitler, or to the God of the Bible. Sadly, many chose to elevate their oath of allegiance to Hitler over God and biblical truth.
But one courageous man decided to follow the law of God above the Nazi laws of hate -- Dietrich Bonhoeffer. A German theologian and pastor, Bonhoeffer actively and publicly opposed Hitler and the Nazis. His convictions eventually cost him his life at the hands of the Gestapo.
Author Eric Metaxas examines the life of this great Christian leader in his new in-depth biography, Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy. In a Wall Street Journal review of the book, writer Joe Loconte examines Bonhoeffer's courageous and controversial stand against the Nazis, which included his involvement in a plot to assassinate Hitler:
"It was a bizarre role for a religious man, and a hitherto loyal German citizen, to play. As Mr. Metaxas notes: "For a pastor to be involved in a plot whose linchpin was the assassination of the head of state during a time of war, when brothers and sons and fathers were giving their lives for their country, was unthinkable." And yet it became thinkable for Bonhoeffer precisely because his understanding of faith required more than adhering to tidy legalisms about truth-telling and nonviolence."

Internet Evangelism Day: April 25
This Sunday is the annual Internet Evangelism Day, celebrated in churches and ministries throughout the world. Digital media have transformed our lives in the last 15 years. We have entered a new ‘digital communication culture’ where all the rules for effective communication have changed. Even offline!
Today there are 1.7 billion web users, and more than 3 billion people use mobile phones (increasingly these are web-equipped). The Web is not just another means of communication, but a hyper-medium that links and enhances all previous media.
Internet Evangelism Day exists to help Christians understand the huge and growing potential to share the good news of Jesus through digital media. The Internet Evangelism Day web site is an excellent source of information and collaboration to help promote evangelism thorugh the web. The IE Day site offers two complementary concepts:
- an annual focus day on the last Sunday of April each year
- a year-round resource guide, with ideas and strategies for all types of digital evangelism
