Mastication, Meditations, Musings, Pondering & Ruminations

Greetings all.

Here are some things to think about and ponder as you sizzle in the summer sun.

“There are many kinds of voices in the world.”

“Hurried reading is of little benefit; to sit down a while and meditate is very profitable.” Charles Haddon Spurgeon – British preacher (1834 –1892)

“What if when the time came to die. I discover I had not really lived?” Henry David Thoreau - American author, poet, (1817-1862):

SAUDI ARABIA BANS DOGS: POLICE SAY PETS ARE EVIL: Saudi Arabia's religious police, normally tasked with harassing women to cover themselves and ensuring men attend mosque prayers, are turning to a new target: cats and dogs. The police have issued a decree banning the sale of the pets, seen as a sign of evil Western influence. (Associated Press)

In response to the commercial hucksters who are always trying to sell you something, ask yourself:

         What are they selling?
         What are the saying?
What do they want from you?
         How much does it cost?
         Is it true?
And in the “voice over” announcements, does anyone really talk that way?

“Riffraff and rascals
talk out of both sides of their mouths.
They wink at each other, they shuffle their feet,
they cross their fingers behind their backs.
Their perverse minds are always cooking up something nasty,
   always stirring up trouble.”
(Proverbs 6. 12-15)

“It may be that when the angels go about their task of praising God, they play only Bach. I am sure, however, that when they are together en famille they play Mozart and that then too our dear Lord listens with special pleasure.”
Karl Barth (pronounced "Bart") 1886 –1968 Swiss Reformed theologian

“Spirituality is not a nebulous, mythical, or abstract thing. Spirituality is the most practical thing.”
              T.Austin Sparks 1888–1971 –English minister & author)

“Many people seem to be in the middle of a religious crisis of faith. All the gods they believe in — technology, technocracy, centralized government control — have failed them in this instance.”
David Brooks – The New York Times – Dec.31/2009

The question of "What shall we do?" from the Apostle Peter is the deep heart cry of every man who suddenly realizes that he is a usurper and sits on a stolen throne.

“God's Word gives far greater understanding of today's events than current news reports.”

Selah – stop and think about these things.

“And may the sun not strike you by day!”
