Ringo Starr, Life and Wordy words or Life Words
Ringo Starr 70?!
That is a little scary. I mean the man used to chase my wife Nedra around all those “yesterdays” ago. Ringo’s group The Beatles (that info for the youth) had a party for Nedra’s group The Ronettes when the girls headlined their first British tour. Conversely for the Beatles first tour of the USA in 1964 they requested the Ronettes tour with them. I was one of the MC’s at the Shea Stadium concert in New York City.
Fast forward to about ten years ago in Monte Carlo, I joined my friend Bill Wyman, then bass player for another renowned group The Rolling Stones, for dinner with Ringo and his wife Barbara Bach. Conversation touched on all sorts of subjects including marriage, children and even God. I remember being surprised at how truly ignorant my hosts were of the God and Jesus Christ that is part and parcel of my everyday life.
John Lennon and George Harrison are gone. Paul McCartney and Ringo are still with us. I pray for the remaining two. Only by God’s favor, here I sit when I coulda', shoulda', woulda' died but didn't.
Lord help me to number my days, because after all, “What is my life but a vapour that appears for a little while and then “poof” vanishes away?”
- For all you folks who are overloading your little grey cells on all sorts frivolous words and info remember that:
“All information is not wisdom or knowledge.”
“Every true teacher is not one who says a lot of things, but one who, when he says things, gives something of himself.” (Unknown)
By contrast here is THE ETERNAL WORD from Psalm 23 in METRE, developed in Scotland (where else?) in about 1650:
1 The Lord's my shepherd, I'll not want.
2 He makes me down to lie
In pastures green: he leadeth me
the quiet waters by.
3 My soul he doth restore again;
and me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
ev'n for his own name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale,
yet will I fear none ill:
For thou art with me; and thy rod
and staff me comfort still.
5 My table thou hast furnished
in presence of my foes;
My head thou dost with oil anoint,
and my cup overflows.
6 Goodness and mercy all my life
shall surely follow me:
And in God's house for evermore
my dwelling-place shall be.
True Words, and thanks folks,
Scott Ross
