Almond Crescents - Leonard and Jill from New York
Servings: 5 and 1/2 dozen
Ingredients:
1 cup shortening (1/2 butter)
1/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup ground almonds
1 2/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt

Cooking Instructions:
Sift together: shortening, butter, sugar, and ground almonds. Work in flour and salt. Chill and make into round pencil thick pieces cut in 2 and 1/2 inch lengths. Form into crescents.
Bake at 325 degrees for 14-16 minuites, or until set, not brown, cool on pan. While slightly warm, carefully dip in 1 cup confectionary sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon.

Every year at Christmas time, my sisters and I would get together and make all kinds of cookies for Christmas day. It was a very special time for all of us growing up.
