Date No Bakes- Vicki Brown from Fontanelle, IA
Ingredients:
1 cup chopped dates(do not use pre-chopped with sugar)
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups Rice Krispies
1/2 cup coconut, or more

Cooking Instructions:
Chop dates in sauce pan, add sugar and butter. Cook 7 minutes over med heat, stirring constantly. Add vanilla and stir in Rice Krispies. Form into balls and roll in coconut. Place on waxed paper until firm. It is hot at first, but if you don't do it quickly, it will not hold together if it gets too cool.

My two grown sons don't think it is Christmas, unless we have these. And they don't even like dates!! But they love these. Eight years ago, I was very ill and did not do much for Christmas, but I did manage to get these made.
