Names of Christ: My Redeemer

I want to encourage you with some Scripture today. Job 19:25 (NKJV) says, "For I know that my Redeemer lives!"

Job makes that powerful statement just after his friends are trying to make sense of his suffering. They assume that God has forsaken him because he’s sinned in some way. But Job is adamant that he is innocent and blameless.

When Job says, “I know my Redeemer lives,” what he’s really saying is: I know my God will vouch for me. He will return to me what has been stolen by the enemy. God knows my heart and I trust in His mercy and justice.

This holiday season, let’s not forget that Jesus is our great Redeemer. Just as Job said that our Redeemer lives, Jesus is alive and active in our lives. He avenges our spiritual deaths by giving up His very own life to eternally save ours. He returns what has been stolen from us—fellowship with our Heavenly Father. And He stands in the gap for us and makes us whole.

If you’re going through a tough time this holiday season, find hope in this promise—that your Redeemer lives!
