The Word Made Flesh

Gordon Robertson - President and CEO, CBN

Jesus came into the world as the Word made flesh. As a child in the Temple, He knew the Word and spoke it. When tempted in the wilderness, He kept quoting Deuteronomy: “It is written”—and the devil left Him. Jesus then returned in the power of the Spirit and began His ministry by reading from the scroll of Isaiah, announcing that this word was now fulfilled. Throughout His entire ministry, Jesus constantly referred to the Word.

And here is something amazing to consider. When you receive Jesus, the Word becomes flesh in you. It is always in you. You become the embodiment of the Word.

God promises in Isaiah 51:16:

“I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, that I may plant the heavens, lay the foundations of the earth, and say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’”

Before He laid the world’s foundation, God’s concept was that His words would be in your mouth, that you would proclaim His message.

Paul refers to this in Romans 10:8:

The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.”

It is in your mouth so you may do it.

The Lord tells us in Isaiah 59:21,

This is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants … from this time and forevermore.”

This promise is not just for you; it is for your children and theirs, forever. How comforting to know that He is faithful through all generations!

The evangelist Reinhard Bonnke tells of a time when he questioned his own authority to do miracles. God said to him, “My words in your mouth are just as powerful as they are in Mine.”

Do God’s words lose their power just because they’re coming out of you? No; the Word goes forth and accomplishes what He sent it to do. It does not return void—ever.

When you proclaim Jesus, that message is transmitted to those who hear. And Romans 10:17 says,

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Who is the Word? Jesus. You are simply a vessel for the Word.

When we pray and enter into His presence, it is no longer us; it is Him. We decrease and He increases. And He produces fruit from our lips. God bless you.

Scripture is quoted from the NKJV.
